Yes. If you don't have friends you won't get PL'd, forcing you to either PT or do Levees. While doing Levees, you are usually not alone and people tend to offer to team up. Ask to join their LS what's the big deal? I've also seen numerous shouts for social LSs. Some people just need to get off their high horses and tolerate people a little bit.
I haven't seen people team up for leves since they nerfed Necrologos-linking. I also haven't been in a pick-up exp pt in a year, but this could be because I can't be bothered to put up my flag through the cumbersome system.
That said, just playing w/o a LS last year garnered me a few Linkshell invites while soloing, so I can agree that it's not difficult to find people if you put in effort (considering I found people w/o effort)-- you also have the OF and here where you can ask for a LS, you're bound to get at least one response between the two. If you don't, maybe it's because you're a terrible human being.
Also leves, not levees. Levees are dykes. Leve, I imagine is the Localization Team flexing their archaic English muscle again.
I dunno what game Evanae is playing, but I'm in the same boat as everyone else who's posted on the matter. I do leves solo while seeking, nobody asks to join/group, even if we're forced to party during a behest. Granted, I could certainly do the asking, but I haven't bothered. Sometimes I get PUGs for grinding exp, but I've never made friends there.
It depends on luck and server, but I certainly haven't made any friends by leveling up. Doing AF and missions, however, I've met a couple of cool people.
Right now, Yoshi has done a very good job at sorting things out.
If you have just 30 mins and care nothing about others, you Leve solo.
If you can spend a few minutes interacting with another person, you can Leve Link : it costs nothing and makes combat more interesting.
Finally, if you can dedicate yourself to assemble a party you can be at camp in 1 minute and experience flows faster. You don't even have to stick to certain jobs for it to work.
Part of the MMO experience *should* be about interactions with other users. Of all job quests i did, each one was a different experience because of the people that joined, from douchbags to cool kids.
Eh, I still feel that the current system is antiquated, but 2.0 should address most of my most pressing concerns. Really, as long as the lag and shoddy combat are addressed, people will at least -play- the game. Everything else is just an added bonus at this point.
I like the mentality behind leves, but the quests themselves currently are horribly boring, they certainly need to be updated so that theyre at least updated to the standard of a 2010+ MMO, not a 2002 MMO. At a basic level and for the sake of comparison, I would expect them to be more on a par with WoW (sorry) Cataclysm's more flavoured quests (E.g. Mount a turret and shoot at garlean airships or whatever) rather than Vanilla (Boar livers).
Hopefully Yoshida knows how much they suck content-wise.
I don't think leves will change that much. But they're adding more side quests and quest hubs so I'd want those to be filled with such stuff.
I'd just like to be able to see a lv 70 area and know we will actually use it to reach lv 70 instead of half the lower areas having lv 80+ around the borders and getting face smashed :/
Can't you just walk past drakes? I'm almost certain I've had no problems walking past drakes and guivres. It's the boars which aggro either "true sound" or "scent" and sight-aggro shit like raptors that make it annoying as all fuck.
Idk, I just abused Hallowed Ground + choco to get all the really difficult nodes.
lol smart, iunno why i never thought of that.
Another thing you can do is just... lag yourself just before you move into a mob's aggro range so you kinda 'warp' past them a bit.
You can walk past the drakes in The Black Shroud, it's the boars that you can't.
