Camping spawn points in multiplayer is a pretty big rager for me. People going afk in the middle of a game to leech xp/credits/etc leaving you and your teammates to do all the work. Crap like that. Atlus games.

also not exactly nerd rage, and I know I'm guilty of it sometimes too, but I hate how nowadays practically any discussion of video games is incredibly likely to turn into an argument/hatefest/orgy of whining.

Something i havent seen mentioned yet is age. I can very distintly remember many ps2 controlers being launched across my room in my teenage years. Nowadays im much more chilled, not totally cause i do still get pissed occassionally but im control now.

Saying that lag is definately the one that does it for me. Ive played more halo than i care to remember and without being too big headed im was up there in the top 5-10% of the best. Not anymore, dont practise/play atm. But my point is theres just no way to compete when someones got a clear connection advantage and the thought that but for it id be wiping the floor with them but for it really does my head in. I dont usually quit over it though, just rage to myself and my team.

1. Uncontrollable outside forces that affect my gameplay(lag, controller dies, fgt calls on skype durinjg LoL game forcing my LoL to minimize)
2. Dumbass people. Mistakes are fine, sure, but I can't play with people that constantly do retarded shit.
3. People that deny their mistakes. Lateky I'm the leaderly type guy in any group gaming so if i'm pointing out what went wrong to help our group improve don't argue with me about your mistakes.
4. People that fuck around. Put your serious face on for group stuff. People that drag ass and drag an entire group down either talking about what happened to them today or just not being where they need to be in game.

Sure you can relate from the Smash days, as you know I'm pretty heavy into fighters. I'm average to above-average skillwise and go to gatherings/tournaments twice a week. I get really salty, and often, because the genre kind of breeds that.

Losing in itself I'm okay with. I have clunky hands, even though I could obliterate someone who is only semi-familiar with the games, I'm still bottom-third at the places I play and lose often, sometimes continuously for hours on end. I've gotten past losing making me mad, especially when it's due to me making a mistake/mental error.

What gets me into full-on stick-throwing mode though is when I recognize a situation, react with the proper button...and it just doesn't happen. This goes for all games, but happens the most in FGs/FPS. I know a guy is going to throw me, press button to tech throw, miss it by one frame, get thrown. I land in front if a guy, get his head sighted in a fraction of a second, press shoot...get headshotted.

Outside of that, to the part about getting mad even when you win, absolutely. If I beat someone badly, but still drop several easy combos, I'm still pretty mad. At a recent major I had the opportunity to play Skullgirls on stream, and absolutely blew my opponent up...but dropped a setup that would have showcased gameplay tactics that I actually created myself in front of a big audience, and I felt humiliated despite being vastly better than the other guy.

Also I've noticed in general gaming that the amount of happiness I get from winning is not close to equivalent to the amount of mad I get from playing poorly, probably because I head on with the expectation that I'm supposed to win, and anything less feels like a failure.

Ill use Dark souls as my example since its the first game in years ive honestly rage quit.

Glitch Backstabbers = pussys , yes they make me MAD but its simply because they are abusing a game mechanic to instantly kill you for most the game.
level1-10 invaders who box hack = pussys if your in the first zone in full havels invading new players your a prick

now for my rage quit moments, Tarus Demon ... i think it took me like 3 hours and 30-40 deaths to kill him... i dont know why but my first time with him was baaaaaad. i was on the brink or pure rage and shit with my friends on skype laughing. after that i made it all the way to Anor Londo... and then the bows... the god damn RAIL GUN FACE RAPE bows.. they started the rage ... the fact that i couldnt for the life of me kill the fucking silver knight on the right ended it , i raged and had to take a 24 hour break to calm down about the level of faggoty darksouls has at that moment.Even now when i get to that section i summon people and let them die or ill just use cheap tactics to out right avoid it.

5) Nerd-rage: Capcom cancelling MML3, Happened months ago, I'm still pissed. I hate that company with a passion for cancelling what was my most wanted and anticipated game in over a decade. I just keep playing MML1/2 and hate every GD Megaman Fanboy who faps to 2D Platformers that caused this game to be a "Failure" in their eyes, when it was an exciting and fun game (That could use some control tweaks...). - See? Nerdraging just thinking about it

*Brofist* I nerdrage whenever I think about Capcom canceling MML3 too...

I very rarely nerdrage or ragequit when I'm playing games mostly because I know my triggers and generally avoid games that put me in those situations.

The biggest example I can come up with is that I'm shit-tier at FPS games and combined with the fact that PC FPS for over a decade and all current gen FPS make me motion sick I just don't bother to play these games anymore. It's just not worth the headache and nausea, both figuratively and literally, for me to play them.

Oh I forgot about playing against people that use rage inducing tactics. I have a friend that I have been playing video games with for years and he is kind of like me about losing.(hates it) But he will literally do anything to win even if it completely diminishes the fun of the game.

One time I got him and a couple other people to start playing some total annihilation from way back and after losing every game he finally starts a game and brings his commander straight to my base and blows his and my commander up. If he can't win neither can I he says. Still rage over this indecent to this day because player 3 fucks with me and is like "remember that time I beat superbad at his own game, total annihilation"

Playing NCAA Football, I'm significantly better than him and he has yet to beat me playing like a "normal person". The only times he has ever beat me is with this field goal + onside kick combo that he does. Running the clock to 1 second and doing nothing but runplays. By the time I do get the ball he plays aggressive D hoping he gets a fumble. If the stars align for him with this strategy he gets a win.

Shooter games. Camping is pretty annoying, but there is a big difference between placing yourself in a good position and posting up Vs. spawning - running to the nearest corner - and sitting there for the entire match regardless of the objective. I actually rage even more spectating someone on my team doing this than if I'm playing against it. You gotta go plant the bomb buddy.

in kaillera ssb64, or any ssb for that matter: fucking uptilts and falcons up air combos. complete and utter bullshit to the point where I stop even trying.
cheap tactics really destroy any motivation for me to play the game, and i really am tired of people who find it an ego boost to lock someone in a combo that takes zero skill. i'm all good with getting my ass beat down by proper players, creativity and whatever, but cheap tactics are a troll's best friend and my worst enemy.

Since leaving ffxi I have picked up black ops in my free time (I feel like I have to squint to even see people on mw3) I think Qalbert mentioned quickscoping....shit makes me want to tear my shirt off. Losing a headquarters match closely like 225-200 and seeing the dude at the top of your leaderboard @ like 76-5 with 0 captures and 0 defends....thanks for being a team player bro.

Finally...fuck knifing....fuck it for real. I'll never understand pumping three rounds into a guys chest while he ignores it and ninja flips to knife me from across the room. MEANWHILE I have stubby t-rex arms and every knife I attempt fails horribly.

nerd rage in ffxi: Rani, farming pops solo(omega), asking (ex)friends for help, and during the fight they totally fail because they don't pay one lick of attention and you full wipe and they say "it's not that big of a deal idk why you're so upset".

fps: CoD Blops knifing. Need I say more?

sports: madden, nba live, etc. If I play easy or moderate I beat the cpu by 50+, if I play on hard mode I can't make a layup with Kobe Bryant or throw a 2 yd pass with Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, etc.
