The term "rage quit" makes no sense whatsoever for solo playing sessions. We try to make the most from our time, so why would anyone wait for an inevitable loss instead of reloading?

If you're playing with others then it gets a bit more complicated. Long story short, if saving face is important to you (like in a tournament) then you'll definitely not want to ragequit, but otherwise (like during a generic online gaming sessions with people you don't know) the idea is basically the same as if you were playing solo. What's more important, your own time or some random internet dude's clean win?

Just thought of another example, fucking mario kart. I'm about to cross the finish on the last race of the cup and get hit by, in particular order, Blue Shell, Red Shell, Green Shell, another Red Shell, Lightning Bolt, Guy using a Star, dropping me to 6th place for the race and second overall in that standings. FUCK YOU MARIO KART!

I know nothing of that, just the whole "Why are you so mad, it's only a game" statement that gimps use. I quit well before all that brew shit came out.

I usually rage over either people fucking up a huge endevor over and over (Think raiding for 3hrs and having the same people fuck up every attempt each time) or due to games where people tend to cheat (CoD, APB) to gain an upperhand. I remember I used to rage hard when playing APB with my friends, because I would come around a corner and a guy would spray my head apart with a shotgun from sniper rifle distance...and then after leaving that fight another guy would spray my face apart with a Ntec from...sniper rifle distance.

"rage quitting" is when you quit, because the game/someone in the game is making you angry to the point you no longer wish to play. Typically, if you're not enjoying a game, it is best to stop playing it, but if you do so out of anger, it is a rage quit.

charm and also a number of times I kept healing it. Sounds dumb right?! Right!!! My rage came from healing it when even time stamp showed I had used WS way before it would cast a spell (usually 3-5 seconds) yet it still healed it. I checked for a charm screen but I didn't see/find one. If there is one then I fail...!

I don't rage-quit often.. I get really frustrated when what could be a really good game has things in it that I can't deal with but could otherwise be a great game. I don't play FPS so I don't have to deal with those as part of my life, I couldn't imagine!

Eve: tried to play recently to see what the fuss was about. UI is unusable and the tutorial crashed. never went back
Heavy Rain: got game to crash because it wouldn't let me cancel drinking OJ from the carton, hated the VO. never went back.
Aquaria: don't have time for the slow character movement speed, don't care that its supposed to be emersive... ended up playing it again for work-- controls still suck.
Stacking: played demo, unskippable cutscenes in full version, weird saving rules making me rewatch cutscenes.
    Any older PC game where I forget there was a time before auto-save... and I die >.>;
OH and I rage-quit FFX because I was grinding for like 3 hours, killing king behemoths with summons, and wind up trying to kill one without them and it one-shots me with death-move meteor, 3 hours of work down the tubes.

Suppose I get most frustrated when how people should play is dictated by some unreasonable standard established by people who play a given game way too much.

not rage inducing exactly, but in MMOs when people are like "USE THIS BUILD OR YOU CAN'T GROUP WITH US NOOB"

For me, it's stupid little mistakes that cost me victories. Like if I'm playing Smash Bros with my friend Marcus, it'll be 13-16 his favor, but 3-4 of the matches, I fucked up and killed myself at a very low % (then he spams taunts. Don't care if you taunt when you earn the kill, but on some shit like that pisses me off), which pretty much costs me the match.

Other than something like that in a competitive setting, I enjoy challenges, so I only get super frustrated if the game freezes or glitches or something if I haven't saved in a long time. If I keep losing to something, it doesn't specifically bother me too much. I just practice/train more and go for it again. Better than something being super easy

It was, and I agree. Halo has a lot of examples because it's such a popular game. There are gametypes in Halo that have made it into matchmaking and they are designed around the whims of the MLG crowd. "Slayer Pro" among them. Now, I don't mind the lack of Motion Sensor. Everyone has it, so taking it away from everyone is perfectly fair. What bugs me about these gametypes is that the MLG crowd has arbitrarily determined that Armor Lock is "cheap" and "gay" and therefore has no place in the game, a sentiment that has become so pervasive that the TU completely nerfed Armor Lock. And yet, these same people use Jetpacks to get to tiny little cliffs where you're not actually supposed to be able to go, and call it "being pro"

I love Armor Lock. I'm good at it. There have been games where it is my tool of destruction because I killed so many over-eager Ghost pilots with it. In close-quarters, if I'm in the zone, I can time my 'locks just right to survive and then beat down a Sword-wielder. In Title Update, which was heavily influenced by the MLG crowd, Armor Lock can do none of these things. It depletes the first time ANYONE hits you with ANYTHING. Sword slash? pops you out. Grenade? Pops you out. Mongoose hits you? Pops you out. Wraiths can actually boost into you, pop you out, and still have the momentum to splatter you. I'm pretty sure they removed the EMP effect from Armor Lock too, which makes it about as useful as nipples on power-armor. The only vehicle that needs to fear Armor Lock in TU is the Ghost, and if there just so happens to be more than one ghost, too bad. MLG says armor lock is gay, so you can't do it.

plenty of non "pro" people hated that shit too. there's a reason it isn't in Halo 4.

This. It also ties into outside sources like lag, especially with me having such absolute shit internet. I mean I'm still pretty good at most games I play but christ if I had a stable non-laggy internet connection I would be so much better.

Spawn camping. In any game. Absolutely retarded tactic and every server on every game should make it a bannable offense.

Nerd-ragers that are vocal about it. I can rage and deal with it without spewing garbage all over the server/game I'm playing on, or I'll bitch on vent to my friends. Just recently I had a 2v2 random partner on SC2 cuss me out in the middle of another game cause I had left the game I played with him even though it was CLEARLY a lost cause. 4 bases vs. our 2 and they kept sniping our important buildings. He proceeded to tell me how awful of a player I was, how you should never quit blah blah blah. Yeah I'm not the greatest SC2 player but he wasn't anything particularly godlike himself and it was a single match.

QTEs. I miss the days where I could watch a cutscene and make a goddamn sandwich if I wanted to. Jesus fucking christ fuck QTEs.

I've been playing Dota 2 awhile now, and the only thing that pissed me off are bad players who won't take advice & quitters.

We had a great setup. Huskar, Sven, Axe, and Belf Mage Dude. Huskar was a new player. Kept feeding enemy until I had him shadow me. Then Magey nerd raged & left, then Huskar, and then Nature's Prophet. Axe and held the full opposing team for a good 30 minutes until they finally killed us both and worked down our defenses. They weren't that great, which is what was so sad. We could have beat them good.
