Anywhere to pre-order aside the SE store and still get all the pre-order bonuses?

I'm worried I won't get the cap and the like if I get it elsewhere. Gamestop doesn't have the CEs and Amazon's PS3 CE doesn't list the code. I'm assuming they'll update it at some point.

Is it, Entry fee the first time and then Standard plan fee afterwards? Or does entry have a different meaning (basic?) and you choose either/or Entry OR Standard?

Also regarding playing multiple characters with the same account..

Could you essentially find someone that plays strictly PC version, buy the PS3 version for yourself, and then share the account/fees with no issues whatsoever? It almost seems too simple to be true and could potentially lose them a lot of money in the long run.. Also, could we run into issues with the security token?

Entry and Standard are just the names, you choose whichever you want for as long as you want. The names and what each plan gives is just their sneaky way of getting people to choose the standard option, most people want to have at least 1 mule (as in XI there's really no reason to level more than 1 char on the same account since you can play every job on that 1 char). You get 8 chars for much less than it would cost if you payed per character but no one needs 8 chars.

And no, multiple people can't log into the same account at the same time. Not sure why you'd expect it to work any different than it did in XI or why one person playing on PS3 and the other on PC would matter.

I ordered the PS3 CE and PC from them as well. I haven't got anything code wise either and spoke to Amazon who said they were still updating the PS3 CE page and she checked and said it would include the pre order bonuses they just haven't gotten them yet. Had me a lil worried as well since all other versions of ARR except the PS3 CE state they include the pre order bonuses.

^Do you really need one day shipping if you're getting early access to the game anyways? All you'd be waiting on is the physical stuff, you'd already be playing the game from the early access pre order

It's just the fact that man 3.99 for one day shipping on amazon I'll take any day over paying the same for 3 day (haven't checked that on SE store yet). Thing is if I don't get the codes soon on amazon I'll just get it from SE with normal shipping. So no biggy.

From the page you posted:

■ Windows + PlayStation 3: To play a character from each a version simultaneously
- A Square Enix account
- A copy of the Windows version
- A copy of the PlayStation 3 version
*You can register up to eight registration codes per Square Enix account.
*Please create separate service accounts for the Windows version and the PlayStation 3 version of FINAL FANTASY XIV. You will not be able to play at the same time if you register the codes under the same service account.

^This means you're going to pay $15/mo per service account ($30/mo), as the codes were used separately, so you're not actually saving money by sharing the SE account

Here's more, from the FFXIV website:

Logging into the Same Account on both Windows and PlayStation 3
Customers who own a copy of FFXIV version 1.0 and wish to use their account on the PlayStation 3 version will need to purchase a copy of the PlayStation 3 version. It will then be possible to use your characters on either platform by tying your existing service account to the PlayStation 3 version upon launching it for the first time. However, please note that your account will only be able to log into one platform at a time.

^Doing this you'd only play $15/mo (the codes were used on the same service account) but now you only have one service account, so you can't log on from two devices simultaneously


What you said isn't happening. Service accounts are what cost money, Square-Enix accounts don't. The site is telling you that you're able to log in multiple characters from the same Square-Enix account, not from the same Service Account, which is the biggest "no fucking shit" thing ever. I knew this article would bring a lot of confusion (especially because the way it's worded is awful) and I hate whoever wrote it

Very possible? The only thing you are "buying" from the that you Need is the Registration code. They could theoretically give out the content of the game to the entire world for free (via download for instance) and not lose a dime, because you need the registration code to register a service account to your SE account.

^ response to post above: don't think it would. XI didn't have CD keys recall? Wouldn't put it past them to implement that now.

Unfortunately you will need both keys to play on both systems. You will need to register a PC key as well as a PS3 key, if one did not they would not tell people that already have pc accounts, that they will need to buy and register a PS3 code also in order to play both.

If you already had 1.0 registered you wont need to get another pc code though, just a ps3 one

SE hasn't said anything about this as far as I know. There's only been explicit mention of needing a PS3 key if your account is flagged for PC.

It's possible PS3 keys flag the account as both PC and PS3 (Portal 2 did this but Valve is Valve), but I wouldn't count on it. Common sense says you'll need two keys.

EDIT: Post below mine: if XI's PS2 keys flagged your account as both PS2 and PC then that's even more precedent. Might be possible, who knows.

That's rather odd. Never had to buy XI again for a new registration code when I switched from PS2 to PC. Bummed the CD's from a friend and just logged in normally with my POL ID and what not.

I see what he means. You have to have a registered pc service account in order to log into the game on a PC. Same for PS3. So yeah if you already had a POL ID (and PC service account) you could use any disks, install, and play of course.

Since this is not FFXI, and there is no playonline IDs ... just have to wait and see lol.

My take on it is if there was no need to have both versions registered then there would be no need for me to purchase a ps3 code if I wanted to play on ps3 also. But they did indeed make sure and tell us that is was needed. Why would it differently the other way around? They also made it known that codes for ps3 and pc are different. Basically if you want access to ps3 you will need to add a ps3 access code to your service account. If you want pc access you will need a pc access code added to your account.
