To clarify:

If you have a Service Account that was created using a PC key and you want to play on your PS3: you need to add a PS3 key to your existing Service Account.

If you create a Service Account using a PS3 key and want to play on PC: we don't know whether you'll need to add a PC key to your Service Account or not.

I duno it kinda makes perfect sense you will need both since the codes are exclusive to each platform. Why would buying the ps3 give you access to the pc version when the pc version doesn't give access to the ps3? lol It would be cool and they would lose lots of money. I greatly doubt it.

According to Valve when Portal 2 came out, because Sony does not allow this (I have googled for the quote for a bit and I can't find it, so if you don't want to trust my word that's fine).

Whether it works the other way around or not is entirely up to Square-Enix. I already said I don't think it will work (simply that there's precedent for it working in some cases), but we don't know for sure, and the post you quoted is only stating things we know for sure.

As a precedent for ffxi u had the ps2 version, and when I got the pc version I gave the reg code to my brother-in-law. My ps2 created Id worked fine. Actually it went the other way around too as he borrowed my ps2 copy and his account created on pc worked on ps2 fine.

Perhaps a clockblock by Sony to ensure sales of the ps3 version?

I thought the only reason why you "needed" a copy of the PS3 version for FFXIV was because they had no way to get the software to you otherwise...?

Considering they are going to eventually allow you to download FFXIV to your PS3 (see the website), no, that can't be the reason.

Given what we know: your service account has to be flagged as "PS3" (this requires a PS3 key), or it's not logging on. It was posted all over the last page too.

A: When you register the Windows or PS3 version to an account, you're authorizing that account to log in from the corresponding platform. Registration codes from both the Windows and PS3 versions are required to log in to both platforms with 1 service account.

This answer from today's forum Q/A leads me to believe that you need a code for Windows to use the Windows client regardless of you purchasing the PS3 version. This was not the case and vice versa with XI and the PS2/360 versions of the game. But realistically, Sony and SE want money, so they are going to force you to buy 2 copies of the game if you want to play on both platforms.

Seems that would be the case for people without 1.0. I guess the best course of action for them is to look for cheap registration codes from people that bought the game again for bonuses, as there will be a lot of those.

So, like most people, now that the release date has been announced and it's so close, my friends and I are preparing to play it. My question is: do you guys think that a group of 4 is able to do a good amount of the content (obviously not end game)?

As I'm typing this I realize that it may be impossible to answer this since the game isn't even out lol. Eh, worth a shot.

The first dungeons in the game are 4-man so you will be golden in the beginning with a right setup.
