so my buddy has a 1.0 account, but has done nothing at all with it since a month after the game launched. he is not legacy.

i gave him a link to download the client, he put in his username and password and it said something about him not being registered for beta. he got an email the other day that said he should come back and play, but didn't have any code or anything in it.

what exactly does he need to do to be able to play tomorrow, if thats even possible

He needs to just get lucky and have them send him a Phase 3 beta code. I am in the exact same boat as your friend, and I got a beta code on my alt email, which had nothing to do with my 1.0 account. My actual 1.0 email account got that same email about "come back blah blah", but they never sent that email a beta code.

Yep...still no code here, either. Not sure what their deal is. They made that "acknowledgement" post about PS3 codes. That confuses the hell out of me, considering there's a ton of PC users posting a completely separate issue that they have not acknowledged at all. 1.0 CE user (non-legacy), no previous beta invites, no code now. Their freakin' e-mail stated that ALL 1.0 users will get an invite for the June 14th beta. So much for that, hah.

Strongly skeptical I'll ever get one this weekend at this point. Better to be pleasantly surprised later.

Just before servers dropped, I joined a fate where about 50 people were pounding on a NPC. I couldn't target the npc, how do I do that?

I did preorder from them, and no code here. They'll most likely send any needed codes out as soon as they actually get them, they're not ones to withhold stuff just to avoid a couple preorders/cancellations to snag a code.

I just got the code from them if anyone cares.

I got one for my second account around 7:45EST so. I dunno I think they are rolling them out slowly.

There should be special keys for that, though you may have to assign them yourself. I was using F9~F12 for target nearest NPC/PC/Monster/???, but I don't know if that's default.

Change your targeting filter to enemy only, there is ways to customize the targeting filters as well in settings.

One would assume it would say somewhere in the email. If it doesn't, I'd wager it's PC-only.

Yes, once you have beta access, you can do it on any PC, though not simultaneously (unless they're separate XIV accounts).

2.0 does away with the per-character pricing. 9.99 is the final monthly price, and you can have a maximum of 40 characters, with a cap of 8 characters on a single server.
