Hopefully this is in the right section, but I was wondering about Legacy members and BETA access. I have signed up for all the betas, including the PS3 one. Even pre purchased the collectors PC download version from amazon even tho I had purchased the original 1.0 game. I just wanted the in-game items from it. So far I have not heard a peep from SE except the standard emails most people who entered for the beta access applications. Now I am just curious if anyone else has had any trouble or no invitation yet. Or am I suppose to download the client under some site on the account page. I understand they are busy making sure this phase may be bogged down right now after 1 day since being open with multi platforms, allowing incremental increases to the server population. But to not hear anything through the whole phase 1-3 so far even for the PS3 code i had from FF13.

I am glad that I played 7 years of FF 11. It has taught me to have lots of patience. Also I can except I might have messed up somewhere along the line and have to wait till 8/2013 to be able to play my character from 1.0 again. Just wanted to see if any one has seen an answer to not getting invited even tho multiple applications. Also do I get the Collectors Edition Items from the pre order from amazon, for my 1.0 character. I needed to re buy the game, since I can not find where I made the original purchase from. But I do have the FFXIV Product Code that I used for 1.0, and my Square Enix account shows the toon and proper info.

Few Qs about char creation.

So whats with the world select? Is this not a permanent choice? Is it permanent once you create a char? Or can you change which world you want to go to every time you log in?

I thought I recall seeing you can import 1.0 chars, and some equip? I do not see my char available?

You can only select the server after creating your character and it stays on that server you can create different characters for different servers. You can import character data as a templete, after creating your first character and saving data when you try to create another near character it will ask if you want to use previously saved data when you select ok it will list all of your previously saved character data and your 1.0 character data.

I think you're confusing having played 1.0 with being Legacy. If you had to apply for this, you weren't a Legacy.

For Phase 3 I was on CerberusEU which was alright but the amount of high levels was low, there was about 5-6 23+ so finding a group for instances was quite difficult. Now I know that was beta and not many people are willing to rush etc but I can't help think that maybe that's sort of a sign of a more casual playerbase. I have not really been following the posts regarding servers so I don't really know where people are gathering on here, only that Legacy players are going Excalibur.

Has there been a server picked by the veteran EUs? or are they all going on NA servers? I'm going to have to play on an EU server because I cannot adjust to NA based event times, I just want to make sure I start on a good server with a good amount of decent players so the leveling experience is smoother.

Phase 3 isn't over. But I was on Odin, and although I myself never played 1.0 past beta, I was in a couple of linkshells with people who had multiple lv50 classes in 1.0 and were legacy. There were also a good amount of players lv20+. Kind of hard to judge when you don't know if most the higher lvl players will end up on legacy servers or not.

To get to Gridania head to East Thanalan and walk towards the South Shroud. Once there, attune to the crystal for fun then take a chocoporter to Gridania to avoid all the aggro. Recommend grabbing snack while on auto-pilot.

Are the areas that easily connected? Seems like an extremely short distance. I really hope there's a whole lot more to it than this. I mean, you can't just simply walk to san d'oria from windurst without either an airship or boat in xi. Not to mention the multiple zones.

The world is definitely not as huge as in XI, but that's not really bad, as the areas are at least interesting and not cast and empty.

The world is not as vast as v1.0. Areas are smaller, more manageable to traverse, and transportation is automated at points. It's nothing like the distances in XI. In XIV you could probably walk from Ul'dah to Gridania and back three or four times in the time it takes the choco from Sandy to Windurst lol

I just hope they expand more. To me at least, it's very disappointing. I love the game to death, it's so much fun. Just one of the things i admire about MMOs is vast worlds. Hopefully there's a meeting point for everyone like jeuno or whitegate at some point.

On legacy servers you can plan on Uldah being the main city. Simply because it was our main city in 1.0 and it's where I'm sure we'll go back to out of habit.

With as much anticipation v1.0 people have been waiting for Ishgard I imagine as soon as that city is opened up it will be the 'main hub' (not that Uldah isn't already going to be that).

Nitsuki you could chocobo all the way from San d'oria to Windy (unless my memory has turned to shit where was an airship or boat required???? it was just a long fucking ways).

These revamped zones are amazing compared to v1.0 copy/paste bland landscapes. I forgot to check did they have all the zones open, Mor Dhona and Corethas?

How do you guys use your time to play this game without beeing hardcore.

I played xi and 1.0 hardcore like 8h + per day and it destroyed me. I kinda wanna play 2.0 but with 8-10h work per day + home stuff + other casual games on ps3 ps4 and wii u. I actually have no idea how you could play this game like 10h per week and actually accomplish stuff.

P.s I know 2.0 is isn't out so we don't know much but talking mmo in general

Just depends on your focus. I mean, if you played XI for 8 hours a day for 7 years (lets say most of high school and college), you had multiple capped jobs, multiple capped crafts, high-end gear for every job, probably some kings experience, more than one 3 am wake up call in your past, etc.

But having a job and a family and shit now, it's 1-3 hours, a couple times a week....so you have one capped job and one capped craft and you get the best gear you can in the time available to you. Its just the way gaming evolves as you age, that's all. I played maybe 10 hours of this beta total and reached another city and level 15. It just takes longer. If you stay with it though, you'll catch up over time after others leap ahead.

because when you get near end game as casual you got like 2 choice

1 a good ls who will almost never take you because you don't play enough
2 a casual ls that won't accomplish much because most people don't play a lot and can't practice alot

End Game doesn't work in other MMO's like it does in FFXI. There's a duty finder you can use, dungeons seem to only take an hour tops. You can easily log on for 1-2 hours and do a couple dungeon runs wit maybe a friend or two and the duty finder.
