Select the server you were on in 1.0 during character selection, your old char will show up (wearing the new RSE starter gear).

You'll have all of your old stuff (including job stones), talk to the calamity salvager NPC in the city you're in to get whatever's missing from your inventory.

So gathering from what I read...Yoshi and crew have killed off bazaars? A shame. I rather liked setting my character up in an awkward location with items usually well below the AH/market price.

Oh? Is there a different system now then 1.0 where we had the retainers setup in the trade districts? Or are you talking about the bazaar type stuff in FFXI?

He's referring to no more personal bazaars. Retainer sales are tied to the market boards.

• All characters had a bazaar that could hold 10 items.
• Each retainer had a bazaar that could hold 10 items.

2.0:
• Characters can no longer have a bazaar.
• Each retainer have a bazaar that can hold 20 items.


I assume they got rid of character bazaars because too many people abused it to either hold items that they had no intent to sell (999,999,999g), or for people to hold duplicates of items they were supposed to be able to (because they were 'unique' flagged).

Is there any information on what Free Companies can do functionality-wise come launch? I've heard tales of guild housing and the like, but I was wondering if there was anything confirmed.

It just makes me wonder what % of my XI playtime was spent standing around waiting for a respawn, NM-window, ??? repop, etc. I can't imagine that kind of crap going down in XIV.

This is what those WoW players were trying to explain years ago when XI players were shoving fingers in their ears screaming "LALALA I DON'T CARE NINJA IS AWESOME!"

I mean, I was there, too; shutting my eyes and swearing up and down that it sucked because it did, but XIV is a pretty swanky product now in-part because of WoW and games like it.

Different stats, but similar quality gear. You'll not find one GC that emphasizes in mage and/or melee gear over the other that I've noticed, so you're free to choose based on aesthetics or whatever. There's certainly no more of that bullshit where "OMG Ul'dah overwhelmingly has the BEST belt, sucks for you guys!"

For every slot in the officer's set, one nation's is dedicated to mage, while the other two are melee. However, depending on which gear slot you're looking at, the mage piece will be from a different city. (Ul'dah happens to be the odd city out with two mage pieces, but that's just because there are four pieces in the set, and someone had to be the one with two mage pieces)
