One of the voiced cutscenes is when you are given the airship pass, the cutscene is an FMV (tha's why it's voiced already) about the Garlean Empire, and I believe that scene is also part of the E3 trailer.

Oh, right; I be a herping the derping, for some reason. Maybe it's because I started using the skip CS option and forgot about it.
I have a question but wasn't a legacy person/none of my friends are so I have no idea on this. Sorry if it's been beaten to death but if someone could shed some light on this I would really appreciate it.
I understand that jobs such as White Mage are the advanced version of Conjurer and you need certain levels to unlock it etc, but when I was looking at the skills it seems like the main difference between basic and advanced classes is that advanced get access to a few specific abilities? Does this mean that a white mage 50 gets access to everything a conjurer 50 does even if they don't have conjurer at 50? Thanks.
Oh I see. It's something you can unlock at 30 though right? Is there ever a reason you would want to use a 50 cnj over a 50 whm?
Classes (Conjurer) can use 10 cross class abilities from all of the other classes while Jobs (White Mage) can only use 5 cross class abilities from only 2 of the classes. For example, Gladiator can use 10 abilities from Archer/Conjurer/Lancer/Marauder/Pugilist/Thaumaturge. Paladin, however, can only choose 5 abilities from Conjurer & Marauder (on top of being able to use Gladiator's skills too). Classes can be good for soloing or when you want specific skills that being a job don't allow you to pick
Ah, okay that makes a ton more sense. Thank you.
So I was browsing /v/ when I found a FFXIV thread which gained my interest. Huge nostalgia bomb at FFXI memories and I really do miss my old linkshell community. I bought a beta key from the geforce forums for $10 to try it out, but apparently only goes live on weekends so i'm dying to know
Is it a wow clone?
are there going to be large linkshell communities of english/jp players?
is the game pc spec heavy?
is it a generic final fantasy story?
do different classes have their own thing, or are they all homogenized?
certain people appear to be really hyping this game up, but i've learned first hand not to believe these people at all as many hyped mmos(Star wars, rift) flop badly and end up in the bin.
No.
Whilst you're not restricted to any particular region, there are now regional servers. There is a data centre in Japan and another in Canada. There are servers aimed at the NA/EU crowd, servers aimed at the JP crowd and some which are recommended for EU only.are there going to be large linkshell communities of english/jp players?
PC specs needed http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/product/index.html - go into pricing/platformsis the game pc spec heavy?
I don't really know what you mean but being a Final Fantasy game, it's reasonably indepth as far as story goes and has some fairly epic cutscenes.is it a generic final fantasy story?
It's a Final Fantasy game, so there are different roles and different classes and later jobs to fill them.do different classes have their own thing, or are they all homogenized?
This is nothing like SWTOR. I've played SWTOR, GW2 and Neverwinter recently. Never played Rift. It's just a different order and style of game. It's a Final Fantasy game which seems to have retained it's ff roots but brought many, many gameplay and quality of life elements up to date.certain people appear to be really hyping this game up, but i've learned first hand not to believe these people at all as many hyped mmos(Star wars, rift) flop badly and end up in the bin.
You really need to do some reading and check out the various threads and links. Here's a bunch of stuff which my group has found useful.

A few specific CS in 1.0 were voiced too, and there are some cutscenes where it's apparent that they are to be voiced. Particularly those with white subtitles (unless they've completely removed Hear, Feel, Think) like the Castrum Occidens CS. (That had random speaking right? I remember AGREE OOS)
Are you implying we are not playing the final retail-ready product, but some sort of BETA test or something?!
*SCOFF*
No the game is perfect in every way ever as is and this is like a real release and SE can do no wrong. All hail the SE.
they are pretty late imo about next testing weekend, so can assume there won't be any this weekend?
I'm glad the game plays as well as it does in Beta because I'm not expecting any huge changes between now and release.
