I don't think it's possible to even guess at the size of non-legacy servers at this point. You'll be able to find a few small groups here and there that know where they're going, but a bulk of the people who'll be on new servers are going to just jump on whatever.

We don't have access to Legacy chocobos yet, do we? I'm trying to convince this dude that there's no in-game advantage to having legacy status, and he's convinced that the Legacy chocobo moves faster (and something about a "Gathering bonus", wtf? Who comes up with this shit?).

To my knowledge, the only thing legacy gets is a tattoo and if they got it, they can keep their Goobbue mount that will not be available any more.

Well, that's not true. We do get a special choco designed by Yoshi, but no idea if it was available in P3 already.

I have been wondering. I know I read/heard somewhere Yoshi P saying that the servers are designed to take a max load of 5000 users at once.

Is this still true? I am having a hard time seeing how the servers will support and have supported so many players. Maybe I misread/misheard him say 5000 users per zone. I do remember him giving off a # users/zone amount the same time he said how many users the servers can handle.

I swore I remember some kind of dev post/discussion about being able to turn it in game so only first names are displayed (possibly upon release)? Or is that going to be for communication purposes as well? (Meaning you'd have to only type the first name and not both upon release). Or is it always going to be the two?
