BRD combos are always on cooldown. It gets to the point where I'm often just free casting the 3000TP move just because theres nothing else to use. They need to lower the recast timers on some of their Weapon Skills.

Niiro, I remember them saying you will be able to return GC gear for some of your seals back. Just not sure if its coming in 1.23x or 2.0... I'm still holding onto GC bow because of that. -__-

Is that better than spamming lvl 1 > lvl 2 combo between lvl 3 recasts? Wouldn't think it would be

It's true, ARC/BRD stuff is always on recast if played properly. I think this is how it ends up for me...

Heavy Shot > Quick Nock > Rain of Death
Heavy Shot > Leaden Arrow > Wide Volley
Piercing Arrow > Gloom Arrow > Bloodletter
Heavy Shot > Leaden Arrow
Piercing Arrow > Gloom Arrow
Shadowbind (if TP > 250)
Piercing Arrow (freely)

Pretty sure that's standard stuff and it's based of Carraway's Archer rotation. If you have 3k TP and lotsa targets though, Rain of Death is a better option than blowing 1000 on free Piercing Arrows. RoD is actually pretty good by itself.

edit: saw your PLD questions. I can't really answer most of them since gear has changed a lot since I was new to the game. I can tell you what I wear and/or what to shoot for. I just do end game so GC gear rarely really enters into the mix.

As for my PLD bars:

Action Bars
1 - Provoke, Flash, Sentinel, Aegis Boon, Outmaneuver, War Drum, Phalanx, Spirits Within, Divine Veil, Cover [TANK BAR]
2 - Flat Blade, Fast Blade, Savage Blade, Goring Blade, SPACE, Riot Blade, Rage of Halone, Shield Bash, SPACE, Rampart [WS BAR]
3 - Hallowed Ground, SPACE, Rampart, Tempered Will, SPACE, Stoneskin, Raise, Sacred Prism, Cure, Holy Succor [SUPPORT BAR]

Basically all the stuff on 3rd bar is macro's unless it has long recast so I keep that one 1st bar so it's always visible. Come to think of it I should probably swap rampart and war drum and macro WD.

Thanks, and are you talking about the 25k promotion? That amount made me want to cry a little.

Yeah same process for gold scales or platinum scales, just different seal amounts to buy them. Platinum are 25k, think the gold were either 10 or 15k.

Adventurers must fulfill the following requirements if they wish to rise from Chief Sergeant to Second Lieutenant:

Complete one of the following Grand Company quests:

Grand Company Quest Title
Maelstrom Patrol, Interrupted
Order of the Twin Adder Cure for the Common Pox
Immortal Flames Mess with the Goat, Get the Horns

Complete one of the three “United We Stand” quests.

Pay 25,000 company seals.

* Depending on your Grand Company, you will receive either the Aquamarine Cross, the Emerald Bough, or the Platinum Scales in commemoration of your promotion.

When I talk to the NPC he offers me the promotion and asks for the 25k seals, thing is I haven't finished United yet (still in log) and Patrol isn't even available to me.

Is something bugged, or am I missing something here? I didn't go thru with paying the seals and possibly lose them if it's potentially not working right.

It won't let you, I had the same thing happen to me yesterday. It'll tell you you can't apply for promotion before completing United We Stand. No seals were lost. (Although there was a moment of panic.)

So I just started recently after quitting during unpaid time. Legacy camp and 2.0 drew me so I am back to playing and am now focused on getting a job to 30 so I can get a gobbue mount before it goes away, but is there anything else similar that wont be available that I should focus on getting?

Thanks, if anyone doesn't mind could you give me a run down of the fight and what's expected in each player's role? How geared do people need to be now? Pretty much going to have to do this in a PUG...and the quality of people on Balmung is not great at all (PLD rolling in -enmity for example lol). Only videos I've seen are prior to the Garuda fix, if there is a current one let me know!

That would be a lot to explain, and someone else will do it comprehensively later (or just link to a place that has it), but from the top of my mind.

Phase 1 (Pre-Aerial Blast)

BLMs burn Garuda down as fast as possible (for phase 2 skip), Burst combos help for this phase. Ignore plumes and avoid Mistral Shriek. Sidenote: MNKs can fill this role as well.

WARs tank Garuda and deal with plumes. One mainly tanks and one mainly deals with plumes, both should be doing aoe WS to weaken/kill plumes, but only 1 needs to focus fully on it. Sidenote: DRGs can fill this role too.

BRDs keep people up on songs and aid in taking out plumes while dealing damage to Garuda when they can. Mostly using Rain of Death and Wide Volley here, but my personal experience with BRD is shallow after the light shot nerf. Before AB goes off, 1 BRD should Battle Voice and cast Ballad.

WHM just needs to regen the melee occasionally and heal them, it's really easy. You can benediction after AB if your party is low, but considering how much time Garuda needs to attack after phase 2 skip you could let regen do most of the worst.

Phase 3 (skipping Phase 2 cause you should always skip phase 2! And I'm lazy)

There are 3 messages you need to watch for.

South Winds (Tornado's that go clockwise)

West Winds (Center of arena, clones)

Air bends and warps (Edge of arena, clones)

Generally if you follow Garuda she goes where it's safe to be, exception is tornado's (I THINK), you might need to keep an eye out on them. Dealing with clones is easy, BLMs go after Chirada, WARs and BRDs go after Suprana. Main tank should take Suprana while sub-tank takes Chirada until BLMs are ready/able to kill her. MNKs can kill both (Fists on - Chirada, Fists off - Suprana) and DRGs aim for Suprana only.

Important thing to remember for clones is that since there are 3 of them, positioning is important so you all don't get raped by slipstreams and stunned. WHMs and BRDs should be out of range of all clones so they can heal and support. WHMs should time Prism Regen for these parts, and BRDs should be using Stoneskin and Sanguine Rite with Sacred Prism (mostly after AB, MP can be a little rough then).

Tornado is easy as well, just move slowly around the safe spot while WARs and BRDs focus on killing plumes (BLMs can regen MP or nuke Garuda). After plumes are dead, everyone can rush Garuda.
