Yeah, that topic is getting boring.
Stop thinking of jobs as separate entities. Think of them as a 'spec' (like in WoW) or like a 'soul' (in Rift). Imagine there's not even such a thing as 'job level'.

I really hope they change the way job level and class level link. It seems pretty stupid to have all jobs leveling up that are linked to one class. It would be better to have your highest lvl job sync with the class it branches from and every job strting at lvl 30 when unlocked. It would be really stupid to have new jobs come out in expansion packs and automatically be lvl 50, i.e. samurai if it comes off lancer and you have lnc/drg leveled.

Probably been talked about before. Just crossed my mind.

You'd still have to do the Samurai questline to use any of the abilities you'd want to be a Samurai for. Which is the point of the system. Job Souls are just specialized enhancements, few extra stats and a few quested abilities/extra armor sets/weapons.

Ok i'm getting a bit lost here, help me figure something out please

- I have a SE account with 1.0 version linked to it, plus the beta (from the first phase).

- Since I have nothing worthy on my 1.0 account (only played a few days) I pre-ordered the 2.0 CE for vanity items and anticipated access.

- I created a new SE account to link the future 2.0 key, anticipated access etc. I also asked for a new beta key to link to this account. I have received said key a week or so ago, after the end of P3.

Now I planned to just play with the new account from P4 on, but apparently if you are using a post P3 beta key (like the one i got for my second account) you'll get one day less of beta. Meh. So the question is, is there any way to add the 2.0 key/various bonuses to the SE account that already has a 1.0 account linked to it ? Any way I can get full P4 access AND all the 2.0 related stuff at this point ?

Has there been any word on open world NMs? I heard something about FATE NMs, and they once mentioned wondering Primals that would pop up in random zones but that was forever ago with no other mention of it.. As it stands, there isn't any high level priority mobs that FCs will be fighting over?

There are high level FATEs that everyone can battle, so no competition. Only Behemoth and Odin are confirmed to be at launch so far.

If the database info is accurate then the rewards are terrible (worse than GC gear if I don't remember wrong). If so you'll probably only want them for looks when they add vanity slots.

They are, the casual one I made during the beta had a space in it.

edit: Not sure about Free Companies though, forgot to mess around with that.

You can have spaces and apostrophes as well for Free Companies, I named one Mummer's Farce.

Holy shit thanks Res for asking that question and thanks Buffy for answer. I just caught it.

I went to Amazon and poked around and indeed FFXIV PC CE is no longer available.

Luckily I have a 1.0 account so I can play on PC anyway, but I intended to play on the PS3 and also wanted the physical goodies and the in game items of the 2.0 CE.

I swiped up the PS3 CE and pre-ordered it. So now I should be able to play on PC/PS3 interchangeably no prob.

But just to confirm because the flow chart in the previous page made my head hurt:

I got my physical swag - check
I got my in-game swag across all chars I make? I presume they get mailed to you like in WoW (before they implemented the cross account stuff) - unsure, can't find a straight answer lol
I can login to my account on both PS3 and PC (because I own 1.0 CE) - check... sort of

Just got my early access code as I wrote this. I assume I activate this in my SE account and then I can "early access" on either PS3 or PC? I'm assuming my PS3 code will come with the actual game.

Sorry for seeming a bit noob on this -- I swear I brought the 1.0 CE after the game was released. I just nipped into my local store and paid for it lol. I was going to repeat it this time around

The pre-order codes that are being distributed for North America and Europe include instructions that they will be redeemed via a special website:
NA: http://preorder.na.finalfantasyxiv.com/
EU: http://preorder.eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/

This special site is not yet live for users to redeem the codes received from their retailer.
Once the code redemption for this site is live, scheduled for August 20, 2013, you will be able to enter the code you received that looks like: ABCDEF-###-ABCDEF-###

That will then give you all the instructions required to register your early access code.

In short, hang tight guys and don't panic!

You cannot activate the Preorder till the 20, on the 20 you go on the EU or NA (depending your region) link and enter your 18char code to activate the preorder

But as for now if you want you can register the product if you go into the square-enix member site.


My inquietude is that i preordered PS3, and they gave me the code, but when i went to register it on the Square enix members they said it's a PC code.

I don't mind loosing PS3 head start but yeah I was still wondering

Most of that is correct except for the early access code. They're going to release a website to input those codes on the 20th. As far as we know it will be separate from the SE account system.
