Yeah the price isnt the issue. I'm just not sure if I should shell out monthly for a game that seems to be totally average (and when I played the beta, just bad) or wait it for 2.0 and try then.

Did you play before so you can't get the free first month?
Whenever there's an update of any kind I can never get the client to connect and DL the new patch unless I restart my PC. It'll just hang at "Initializing Network" and I can't even cancel and exit without killing the process.
It's hardly an issue of any substance (all I have to do is restart, has always fixed it) but I was just wondering if this happens to anyone else.
Regardless of when you start, your first month or 2 will be solely based on leveling up your jobs. Leveling now isnt half bad so if you wanna play for a month to test it out, thats always a way to go. If not you can wait til 2.0 as literally everything in the game is gonna change from maps to engine, gfx, UI, even storyline.
It will be a completely new game from 2.0 and beyond and you can just start fresh. Preferably on a new server where everyone starts at lv 1. I'd probably wait for 2.0 and start fresh as thats always fun to do in an MMO essentially starting on the ground floor again. It'll be easier to work your way up as everyone is equal.
I have no idea if this should go in the miner thread (which is more or less the DoL thread) or not but it's random regardless:
So, I've always heard about getting enough output for 8 attempts per node, but for fishing I get 9. Is this just me misunderstanding? (Like is your "8 attempts" really the first one + 8 further attempts, or is an actual 8?) Is fishing unique in this regard because it's so useless?
When we say 8, we mean 8 total.
I think I heard once that FSH might be a little different because you have little reason to actually shoot for the schools of fish. I want to say schools of fish give you gathering attempts + 2, but I cannot confirm (I've never fished before).
Just a couple of clarification points...
You are fishing at a school of fish, correct?
Is this during a guildleve?
What level are you and how much +Output do you have?
What area are you fishing in?
Yes I am fishing at a school, no it's not during a guildleve, I'm level 50 at Bald Knoll with only 105 Output
Chat Log:
Spoiler: show
It must cap at 10 then, at least in Bald Knoll. It takes 114 output at Lv50 to get that last attempt on Grade 5. I'm a little surprised no one's brought that up before in the Miner thread. Maybe the "miner" in the title was keeping anyone from mentioning it, but I've just been using it as a general DoL thread.
There's stuff you can only achieve pre-2.0. Goobbue Mount, storyline, aetheryte achievements and probably more shit that I'm not thinking of. It's not like you're going to have to start from scratch once 2.0 comes out though. Everything is going to carry over.
My question is there's most likely going to be new intro scenes, I wonder if we'll get to see the intro for our current city-state after we recustomize our character?
Bald Knoll school w/ 131 Output gives 10 attempts in case you're curious, dropping it 124 put it back to 9 attempts and that's about all I'm gonna do for this cuz it's annoying :<
Weird... fishing must be completely different then.
Any suggestions for a nice mob to kill at 50 for data comparison purposes?
Preferably something in the 50-53 range with a decent amount at the same level or an entire group at one level.
So, what exactly are the ways to build anima up? I know about beating Hamlet, but are there ways for someone that isn't 50 yet (my bf)?
Also, I think I read turning in supplies for hamlet gives anima, is that a good way? Does it take a lot?
it's a good way. for every 10 of the gathering items (supple spruce branch, kidney ore, indigo herring) I think you get 4 anima back.
Do you get additional anima for turning in HQ items?
I understand people may not want to give up their spot(s), but is anyone willing to share some good spots to hunt boars? I usually kill 'em north of Dragonhead, but they are kind of spread out.
