Wasn't sure if I should put this in the Garuda thread or here, but I'll try here first. What kind of gear should I be looking for on WAR if I wanted to tank Garuda? I've only ever did WHM and DPS, so I'm not quite sure what to use. The set I was considering was this:

I have Cobalt Cuirass with HP+55 melded and Sentinel's Gauntlets with HP+55 melded. I also have Paragon's Crown, but I figured the Antagonize bonus on AF or the Enmity on Militia would be better. I'm unsure if I should be stacking DD stats or HP on Garuda due to the necessity of DPSing her as fast as possible.

Any help is appreciated!

I just tank stuff on WAR with damage gear on so I can contribute to DPS. If healers can't heal you with 4100 HP (after full group buff)... I'm sorry but they suck.

I think most people recommend ACC@480 after buffs, and people sacrifice a ton of stats to get there and still do good damage.

Dps war is great for trash mobs. Gotta consider current strategies for blowing shit up and enmity+ is the only feasible way to even keep hate against well-geared players that know their rotations. Thankfully HDL gives warrior what it needs in the vit department for damage. It falls way short on str (think mine is 244 in tank set) but it matters very little when adding ~25% enmity to all actions.

Having played around with the war helm, the boost is nice but doesn't quite make up for HDL body/head slot. It's not even close really, especially when you consider antagonize's recast and duration coupled with enfeebling done by some mobs.

I don't have any HDL gear, so would say Militia would take the advantage over AF for the full time 1% enmity boost, or should I just swap to Paragon's for the DD stats?

I dunno, I've seen people run full militia gear but I dunno what that's all about really. The gauntlets are definitely a nice stepping stone to HDL so I guess the helm would be as well. There's not much in the way of "great" helms for tanking, but Paragon's could be somewhere in the mix.

Antagonize bonus on AF helm is x1.65 (vs x1.5 without) so I would think it would be worth more than the +1% from Militia Armet.

But who knows, it may be close since Antagonize is on a longish cooldown and with the Armet you'd be getting 1% on all actions.

There's also the fact that +crit rate is no longer pissing in the wind quite like it used to.

Maybe that matters on small stuff, but even on end game bosses, it's not making a huge difference to the point where it's a point of comparison on gear, at least not in the amount you're talking about.

Considering there's only two differences of any note between the two pieces (enhanced antag, and +10 crit vs +10 enm) there's not much else to base your decision on.

Has anyone else NOT gotten their legacy status? I re-sub'd on 12June2012 according to my Account page, which was well within the june 31st cut of date. I initially did it as 30day sub, but then the news came out about the 90day stuff, so i swapped to the 90day sub probably around the 18th?
You guys think i should contact SE support? or just wait longer ? :/

My guess would be that you'll only qualify once the 90 days actually passes, but that's a complete guess.

You get legacy status when it officially charges you for 90 days billing, since its charged you already for the 30 day one it won't charge the '90' day one till the next billing cycle. In theory that is when you get legacy status but I was under the impression that they were out right getting rid of the 90 day status if people were not billed for it by the cut off date.

As we previously announced, we wish to inform our customers that we will be discontinuing the 90-day subscription option on Saturday, June 30, 2012. Beginning Sunday, July 1, 2012 we will only offer a 30-day subscription plan.

Unfortunately, if a customer currently on the 90-day subscription plan reaches the end of their billing cycle after the discontinuation of the subscription option, they will not automatically be switched over to the 30-day subscription plan. Instead, their subscription plan will be canceled and prevent the customer from logging into FINAL FANTASY XIV.

We therefore would like to ask our customers who are currently on the 90-day subscription plan to update their contract period to “30 days” using one of the methods listed below.

In other words you will need to wait for 2 more 30 day billing cycles before you get legacy status now (and also need to update your billing information so it doesn't cancel on you!)

This is a really nub question.

Is it CON or CNJ?

I always thought CON but I see CNJ in the dats. Was it changed or am I just being retarded? I'd login and check some gear but my subscription expired the other day and I haven't gotten round to fixing it yet.

Edit: Also... it used to be TAN, has leatherworker now became LTW?

Weaver is now WVR? I thought it was WEA.

CNJ and LTW. Was always WVR.

The other ones people mess up a lot are GLA = Gladiator and GSM = Goldsmith. Neither is "GLD".

Interesting. I thought when Goldsmith changed to GSM they also changed Gladiator to GLD, seems not. There's no GLD in the dat file so it must be true.

Was CNJ ever CON?
