When on just a class, you can equip any cross-class abilities from any other class, so you have access to a wider variety of skills (usually for survivability if anything).
Equipping a job stone effectively puts you in a job mode that has the following effects:
- minor adjustments to your stats
- grants access to that job's special actions/abilities/spells (BLM gets convert/flare/burst/etc.) and equipment (AF, darklight, relics, etc.)
- limits the cross-class abilities you can equip down to only two other classes (BLM can only equip cross-class abilities from ARC and PGL)
That's really all there is to it. You're ultimately sacrificing versatility for a job's more focused abilities and equipment.
The intent of jobs is to be more useful in a party atmosphere. The intent of classes is to be more useful solo.
If you're in a party, you're almost always a job. If you're solo, you're probably still a job unless you need some cross-class skills that you can't equip on your job.
edit: oops
Figured instead of making a new thread I'd just ask here since this has the highest traffic of most the ffxiv threads, or at least it appears so. Anywho, as far as a windower program goes, which do you guys recommend/use?
I use ShiftWindow.

Are the only true (allows full screen) windowers I know of. I use the former, works fine, no personal experience with the latter.
If your only goal is to remove the border from the window, you're better off using general multi-purpose tools, such as ShiftWindow.
The game supposedly runs differently when in windowed vs full screen mode, so there are reasons to use a windower rather than just mimicking full screen in windowed mode.
I could only give vague anecdotal evidence at best that it runs better in true full screen but it's there if you wanna.
I use game companion to remove the border in windowed mode. Only reason why though is because I have a dual monitor setup. Running FFXIV in fullscreen crashes the game when I click around on the 2nd monitor like I'm alt+tabbing or something.
Just a preference though, depends on what you're looking for.
Are you trying to say that there are magic windowers out there that can give you the benefits of fullscreen while still being windowed? What?
I don't even know what you're saying. All of these solutions are windowed and not full screen and I'm not sure why you even brought up full-screen...?
The purpose of the windowers is to allow the game to run in full screen mode but not crash while atl-tabbing as opposed to just moving the window.
ie. In the XIV config the full screen box is checked, the game runs as it would in full screen mode, but you can alt-tab freely.
Cracked Shepherd's Belt, used to make Vintage Shepherd's Belt... any clue where they come from? +1 Vintage Shepherd's is +20 perception (highest in slot currently). Got 4 +1's up on balmung currently selling for 1.7-3.0 mil. I'd rather avoid paying that if i could /shrug
thanks.
They are found as rewards for some low/mid-level leves. Probably for camps like Tranquil/Horizon/Bloodshore.
This goes for pretty much all of the cracked/stained/chipped/bent/otherwise-damaged equipment.
Those used to only come from faction leves for the most part -- they're just on regular leves now?
any lv 50 leve for LWR somewhere?
