    I mostly join JP pickup groups because, well, I'm Japanese and speak the language, but they too can refuse you if you don't have experience/not geared well/need explaining/not confident enough etc, etc.

    However, they also shout for 'practice' runs, and quite often. So, imo, that makes up for it.

    I find NA pickups to be horrid, though. I've never won any raids/primals with NA pickups in like, ever. Do I just have shitty luck or something?

    Ifrit pick-ups aren't too bad since most people have figured it out by now and it's most recover-able fight, even when there's 6/8 people dead thanks to his jumps.

    Moogle pick-ups are surprisingly not bad these days since people stopped with the whole ARC/BRD-only strategy and now any melee nub can just follow a kill order and do fine.

    Garuda pick-ups are always abysmal, period.

    Cutter's Cry pick-ups are always terribad, thanks to the simultaneous kills and Myrmidon Princess. (edit: and lol sand traps)

    Aurum Vale pick-ups are usually pretty bad as people linger/wander in the poison rooms not knowing what the hell they're doing or where they're going.

    I really want to give NA pickups a chance, I really do... but about the only raid JP pickup groups have some trouble with still is Garuda, and the rest is all smooth sailings. Five chests? No problem. There's even shouts for 17 minute runs too, and they're often successful as well.

    Heck, I even beat the Raven, Nevermore fight with three pickups in the party since my JP static didn't have enough people that day.

    On topic: Does anyone know a good concentration of mobs that drop gil? Might as well advance the progress on that achievement before the denomination nerf bat hits.

    Sorry for the double post, but is the stats mentioned above necessary for a Garuda run? Or is it something that helps with faster runs?

    The thing about the Garuda fight is that it really is a 'gear check' fight, because in one stage of the fight where Garuda spawns its two sisters, one needs to kill both of them (one weak to magical and the other to physical) in under a minute before it warps to the center and uses a move that pretty much kills everyone. About the only job that can get away with not-so-great gear is WHM, but only because the WHM AF is so potent. That's not to say the WHM can get away with not knowing what to do in the fight, of course.

    460MACC/390+INT before buffs for BLM
    BRD needs to be able to 1shot with Rain of Death, and Wide Volley hard enough to shoot it once and dead
    Tank needs to be fast and know what to do in each phase of Phase3
    WHM needs to know what to do, and know that Stoneskin for 2h is their priority - can be done by BRD but this is tricky
    DRG needs to understand that BLM should be pushing Garuda under 40%, so their priority is plumes not Garuda

    Everything else is speed, you can't be ani locked when a phase shifts, you can't be slow, you can't be a generally fucking awful player.

    In this vid, I am actually beating the tank in phases (though we look even because he did the video). That's how fast you need to be.

    This is one that not a lot of melee seem grasp. BLM should handle pushing her down to sister phase, so their #1 priority is to make sure everyone doesn't die from Aerial Blast.

    Grafting Melding Questions

    1) Does Int actually Help BRD? I know that that BRd is PIE then DEX but i'm wondering if theres a difference for legs between INT + PIE or MND + PIE materia

    2) Exemple i have Felt Bracers Melded X2, and then i want them blue. Can i change the color once melded? Or once its melded, it needs to stay like that

    1) choosing between pie/mnd and pie/int makes no difference when all you want is the piety of you just want for brd. Pie/int is more power on blm and pie/mnd is slightly more conservative. Go with whatever's cheapest (probably the latter).

    2) you can meld and then change color afterwards.

    I took a look at the gear I can feasibly get along with at best 2 materia melds, and I can't figure out how to break 390 INT and 460 M. Acc at the same time without food for BLM without using triple melds. On the other hand, 550+ Atk and 330 PIE is reasonable as long as you work at it. Now that I have an idea of what to shoot for as DD, what stats should I be looking at as tank? For WHM I figure just cap regen then focus on maxing out the rest with healing magic.

    There is no magic INT number you need to hit. Its simply more int = more dmg.

    Most common blm doublemelds would be +30int hat, +30int wep, +15int pants and +18m.atkk boots. Other slots would be militia body +15int, 2 HQ rings +36int and 4int bracelet. AF boots and militia ringband also have int but those slots offer alternative gear blm can use.

    Smart spell rotation and proper MP management will boost your overall DPS more than trying to hit 390INT as long as you get no resists.

    if you're from uldah the grand company gear is pretty decent for blm, this is no food/party and the only double meld I have is the scepter

    330PIE for Ifrit's, you'll need more for other bows.

    As far as tanking, I have no problems holding hate against 30k BLM's on WAR using 65enmity and a DD setup otherwise.

    I believe my stats are ~345STR/320VIT/450ACC. Attack will be low, but Skull Sunder's tendency to always miss and it's importance dictates making sure you can land it lol.

    For PLD, I think Moogle Sword or Relic might be necessary, but I'm sure people have done it without. PLD's acc problems are greater than WAR's and you're not going to be crushing the parse so balancing acc and enmity will be an issue.

    Pure guess, but around 40-50attack maybe. 3x stack is about 25-30dmg increase on light shot.
