I remember the last poll having a question about bringing servers up a few days after the 11/11 shutdown and they said as long as like 30% log on or something. Have they said anymore about that? If they do, would it be worth playing any to see some story parts if I was last I did was where Louisox teleports you to an ifrit fight, and I'm lv40?

I thought the "keeping the servers up" was the whole Nov.1~11th period since that's the span where we could play without any progress saved.

No, they have not said when they're bringing the servers back up. As for your other question, that's entirely subjective. "Is it worth playing for story?" Only you can answer that. At this point, I'd just go visit youtube, if you care about any story you never saw, but that's your call.

If you're concerned about your level, don't be. It's not hard to get to 50, even solo. What you should be concerned about is whether you'd be able to find other players to help you in your endeavor.

Also note that if you weren't paying for September/October, you probably won't be able to log on anyway.

For mioko, from Live Letter 36:
Would you still want to continue playing the current version of FINAL FANTASY XIV after November 11, 2012, even if none of the character data accumulated beyond that date was carried over to your FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn account?

Overall, about 35% of you voted for keeping the servers open, regardless of the fact new data won’t be carried over.
While these numbers make for a tough decision, I was planning to keep the servers open so long as 30% of the players voted for it. And so, a few days after the servers go down on November 11th (00:00 PST), we’re planning to bring them back up.

However, we’re going to take a look at the login numbers at the end of each month. In the event that numbers drop below 30%, we’ll take the servers down again, and decide where to go from there. Expect more details on when the servers will be back online after everything’s been shut down. But for now, go and have as much fun as you can before November 11th.
I was still subbed at the cutoff so I'm still in for access. I guess I was wondering from the point that I'm at does it require assistance to do story parts being lv40? I don't/didn't have a ls and imagine if they do bring the servers up it'll be mostly jp players.

You can't solo the majority of good (later GC) story missions or AF.

Even some of the lower level missions often require a party of 4.

I've seen a few people say that the dragon/wyvern statue-thing in Mor Dhona is called Midgardsormr, but I never saw that name in the game (though I don't think I ever went to Mor Dhona other than the unaspected crystals). What was the deal with lore around that?

I think the naming of Midgardsormr was only found in some Lodestone lore article regarding the battle fought over Silvertear Falls (it might be archived in The Raven/The Mythril Eye/The Harbor Herald).

Here's a link to all the publications: http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com...any/index.html
They are towards the bottom, with a link to past issues as well. Plenty of official lore there, though most of it was covering Legacy events.

The specific article is here: http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com...ews/num07.html
The Empire has long exhibited uncommon interest in this area—one might recall the fleet of warships deployed to occupy Mor Dhona some ten years past. Though that particular attempt was foiled in rather spectacular fashion by a dragon of immense proportions—whom the dominant theory holds to be the legendary wyrm, Midgardsomr—the imperial forces have, it seems, finally succeeded in establishing a foothold in the region.

Also, Mor Dhona page from the official site:

Mor Dhona is an inland region of Eorzea, and the site of the first aerial battle in recorded history—a conflict that took place above Silvertear Lake. In the Year 1562 of the Sixth Astral Era, five years after the invasion of Ala Mhigo, the Garlean Empire finally rose from apparent inactivity to resume its attack on Eorzea. A fleet of airships was deployed to Mor Dhona, led by the massive flagship Agrius.

As the imperial fleet advanced into the skies above Silvertear Lake, the largest inland body of water in Aldenard, it was met with a wholly unexpected sight. Midgardsormr, the dragon deity of the lake, had arisen, summoned by a hand unknown. And as if to answer the mighty wyrm's call, a host of dragons flew in from the northwestern reaches of Dravania and fell upon the empire's forces. The air was filled with the deafening roars of cannons and dragonkin alike. Locked in a deadly embrace, the thunderous impact of Midgardsormr and the dreadnought Agrius tolled their mutual demise. Thus ended the Battle of Silvertear Skies.

Even now, the carcass of the immense wyrm lies entwined with the wreckage of the Agrius in the center of the lake, a towering monument to the ferocity of the conflict. Ever since that day, the lands of Eorzea have continued an inexorable fall into chaos...

I also swear by god they mention it in MNK AF quests too, because some guy on the OF C+V'd all the scholar dude's ramblings about the history of Ala Mhigo and the Battle of Silvertear Falls cuz it got like 100x more backstory than any other AF quest

Regarding meteor, I wager that past uses of the spell called down small meteoroids but the Empire was not able to control where the meteorites would land, hence the tragedy and abandonment. Neal probably found out about Dalamad from ancient Allegan scriptures and assured the emperor with the right technology, he would be able to control this Meteor. When Bahamut took hold of him is still unknown.

Maybe someone answered me last time I asked it and I don't remember it because they were worthless: but are we certain Meteor is the name of the 'spell' used to bring down Dalamud? cuz, from what I saw, it seemed to be the codename for the Garlean project to fuck with Dalamud. I have two reasons for this: i can't remember when the fuck they call Meteor a specific magic spells, and the fact that we'll be able to cast Meteor through a Limit Break (or I guess you could say Comet if you want to be a prick)

Also Bozja Citadel was witnessed in Eorzea (by this one Gridanian Guard who swears to GOD he saw Dalamud turn red for like AT LEAST A MINUTE) with no mention of smaller debris falling from Dalamud/the sky. (There also seems to be two types of debris as in normal shit falling off like some sort of spaceship landing i don't know what the fuck science is we don't land spaceships anyways do we? we crash 'em REGARDLESS non-homing/normal and homing/controlled by Dalamud meteoroids)

The officially-released summary of the recent storyline and End of an Era clip says:

The Meteor project is comprised of a complex scheme employing arcane magicks and lost technology to summon the lesser moon down to Eorzea in an attempt to annihilate the realm’s inhabitants in one fell stroke.
That sounds to me like they are specifying that it always had to do with Dalamud.

I wonder what they'll name the Black Mage limit break.

All I know for sure is that this - all of the Empire's machinations of late - is a grand experiment to recreate the ancient magic known as Meteor.
    blah blah
Not long after, it was proposed that the device be used to cast Dalamud down upon the lands of the beast tribes. But to do this, a breed of sorcery powerful enough to tear the very stars from the sky was needed - Meteor.
While we're at it, this same cutscene also confirms it was Dalamud they tried to bring down ten years ago, not a different celestial body, and it definitely hints towards the Bozja project going to hell before Dalamud even got close. That said, this doesn't rule out the possibility of Meteor being used to bring down a different celestial body (it just didn't happen ten years ago). The spell is not specifically linked to Dalamud, it's just the moon they aimed for with it.
