Opening the 1.0 servers back up so people can dick around while waiting for alpha.

I've been away for a while. Does this refer to the Alpha? If not, what is he referring to?

They are actually just going to turn the 1.0 servers back on so the playerbase has somewhere to hang out with each other (outside of forums/chatrooms/ventrilo/whatever) until the Alpha/Beta invites start going out.

But I wont be able to log in because I didnt have an ID the last months, right? Or did they change that?

shouldn't have a problem with that tbh seeing as how they allowed any and everyone to log on for the last few days of 1.0...until the servers went boom and they restricted it again

I cant find the DVD, is there any legal free download? Cant even buy the 1.0 game anymore, all sold out here.

The restriction was either a lie or a very short term thing because I was actually able to log into the game and I was there all the way to the end. I forgot to reactivate at the end of September so my access should've been restricted but it wasn't.
Sure it took me like 20 minutes to log in but I wasn't the only one. Either they applied the restriction to those that never payed or it was quickly lifted.
Either way they'll porbably allow everyone to log in again considering progress isn't being saved at all. They're also restoring the worlds to the pre-apocalypse/end of the world state but they're apparently leaving relics on the characters.

They're not leaving relics on characters as that would have required another save of all character data, they're just leaving the function where you can get them from your bed.

The are leaving the relics on characters (for the 1.0 reopen), because to undo that would require them to roll back the database.

I assumed there was no upkeep with character data backup after the final save because nothing would be carried over but after re-reading the note I just misinterpreted it.

In retrospect it wouldn't make sense for them to chuck the character data from post-final-save -> final event if they knew they might be reopening the servers.

You'd need to search for torrents, there is no official download.

Anyone know how to get into the relaxed requirement Ifrit Extreme? My LS is having one last hurrah and none of us could figure out how to actually get in now that we have access to it.

Didn't they put that in halfway through the final days? Maybe access rolled back with the servers.

The servers are as they were before the final save, anything world/event related that was around the final week isn't there.

Game Content
Game content will be rolled back to Patch 1.23b (released on Thursday, September 13).
Selected updates made from Thursday, November 11 onwards will remain unaffected:

Increase in anima recovery rate
Reduction of all gear repair costs to 1 gil
Chance to obtain job-specific weapons on login for players who logged out in an inn room
Relaxed requirements for participating in “Bowl of Embers (Extreme),” and for undertaking the quests “To Kill a Raven” and “Living on a Prayer”

And here's the new condition:

- Conditions for participating in “Bowl of Embers (Extreme)” will be relaxed.
* Players will now be able to participate if they have completed “Bowl of Embers (Hard).”

As for getting in try talking with the relic quest NPCs or something.

Anyone know how to get into the relaxed requirement Ifrit Extreme? My LS is having one last hurrah and none of us could figure out how to actually get in now that we have access to it.

Just in case, be aware than Ifrit X is in a different spot to normal Ifrit, basically at the opposite side of Broken Water. Other than that I'm not sure.
