The paper mario game is from 2012 on 3DS, but they release paper jam which is more of a Mario &Luigi + Paper Mario Crossover

That was Super Paper Mario, which along with Sticker Star are generally regarded as not proper Paper Mario games. People want a new one in the style of the first two games, particularly The Thousand Year Door on Gamecube

Yeah, playing the 2 F-Zero stages in Mariokart 8 dlc makes you pine for a new F-Zero game even more.
