The legend of Zelda Is link, he is the central point of the whole series, that and dungeons.


Master sword, Zelda, ganon can be absent ( like some games did). But imo Link cannot change too much or people won't feel that it's " the legend of Zelda"

Zelda is the feeling of exploring a mystical place, like what Miyamoto felt when exploring caves as a kid. Not Link, not the Master sword, ect. It became that when the makers of the game focused more on the identifying aspects of the game than the main focal point. Now its Link, the sword, the grabbing of the magical macguffin in the dungeon locked behind the big key that you'll use to stun the boss so that you can hit them in the 3 times to beat them, like its some on-rails ride at Disney land. Rinse. Repeat. Rinse. Repeat. See you at the end credits.

I agree. I am hoping that the open world change from linear quest lines does a lot to bring that theme back.

To be fair, anyone can be the legendary hero. It just so happens to so far have been a dozen similar-looking elf guys. You could spin it as something similar to the first Knights of the Old Republic: Roll whoever you want, but Revan's still the focal point.

Besides, it would lend credence to that cryptic "Who says that's Link?" comment after the original reveal. Plot tweest: It's not Link until you obtain the Triforce of Courage after blah blah yadda start dungeon.

Also, I hope that we'll see a Zelda Maker soon, involving Zelda 1, 3, 4. Since the create your own level feature that Mario Maker has is what the Zelda staff wanted originally when making Zelda.

The difference between Mario Maker and Zelda Maker is pretty apparent, I would think.

Mario Maker courses take what, maybe a few minutes to finish at most after dying 10 times? You're playing through a whole dungeon at least on a Zelda Maker. The concept is awesome, but its like wanting someone to make a Sonic The Hedgehog and Dynasty Warriors game. Sometimes it just doesn't work, i think a Zelda Maker would be way too long for shorter playing sessions.

As for the "self insert" role between gender choices in Zelda: The option to not destroy canon and still have a gender choice is Sheik. I'm personally over the "Link needs to be female" stuff. Theres already established in game mythology about why Link is Link, why Zelda is Zelda, why Ganon is Ganon, etc. I'm not against Zelda being the focus of the story and the active heroine to the support of The Hero in Link, nor am I against accounting for people wanting to self insert their gender, whatever it may be in this day and age...it makes for a better and familiar story. But there are certainly better ways to do it over just slapping a choice between Link and Linkle.

I don't see why people would be upset and angry over playing a very capable Zelda/Sheik (or maybe I can, if Tracer's dust up from Overwatch is an example of the internet being the internet). Design a slightly different story flow for starting the game as Zelda (like choosing Zero or X in MMX), change up dungeon puzzles for gaps in tool or ability use (needles vs hookshot, Links bombs vs Sheik's grenades) and you get everyone happy without changing the platform about why Link is Link, why Zelda is Zelda, etc.

I won't go into much details, but for those who cares, there is now a way to run backup games from a WIIU with FW 5.5.1

I don't know 100% about it but here is what i know

1) there is no spoofer working on 5.5.1 atm, which means that if nintendo release 5.5.2 you will lose eshop/online games until a spoof is out
2) Games needs to run on a SD card (so you need a big one since games like smash are like 12GB)
3) As for now you need to 'run a web server' on a PC to make the 'hax' work

More of a 3DS question then a Wii U question as I don't think we have a dedicated 3DS thread. Last year I bought a N3DS, and now thinking of selling my old 3DSXL as Astylla can't really game. How much of a pain in the ass is it to transfer the Nintendo ID so I can redownload my SSB DLC and my copy of Pokemon Y on the new DS?

It's pretty easy tbh

Step 1) Make sure both 3ds are on the same network and updated to the latest firmware (careful if you have hacked it)
Step 2) On the Source (old) 3ds go to system transfert and follow the steps
Step 3) Do the same on the new 3ds
Step 4) when everything is completed, either put your OLD 3DS SD in the new 3ds (by old and new i mean your old and new one) or transfert the data from a PC if your SDs are not compatible

Should take max 1-2h depending on how much data you has on your old 3ds
