Mixed feelings here like with the rest. If I had money for the sake of having money, I'd buy one for the sake of it. As for reality, probably going to give it a year/year and a half to build its own library, possibly a price-drop, and then grab the stuff that interests me for cheaper. Bought my Wii on launch day, and that was the last time I purchased a console on year-one.
I'm mainly curious how devs will fuck things up and put shit on the touch screen that'd be better off staying on the main screen. It's a second screen that'll likely sit in your lap as you play, you don't want to be constantly looking between your TV and down at your hands.
The other thing is that I'd have to buy something to stack my consoles/controllers on with plenty of ventilation, I'm out of space here on my desk.
[EDIT] If a WiiU can be played without being hooked up to a telly entirely, it might be worth a little more to me. Would be decent for gaming off the controller screen while my monitor is in use on my PC for MMO downtime.
I'm excited just to use virtual console games on the gamepad. Super Mario RPG on the shitter for the win (shut it rom/emu people)
I'm sure I'll get one eventually since the first party line up is always top tier, but I'll probably wait a year or so. Same thing when the new Sony/Xbox systems come out. There's generally very little that comes out in the first year that makes me want to buy a system on launch day.
Bought a wii few months after launch..... bought a 3ds few months after launch.
Learned my lesson both times, will be waiting a while for a wii u
False due to 1 color per model
Hmm...May be worth it then

Rumor: GameStop already selling out of Wii U Deluxe Set pre-orders
Update: Andy also told us this…
“The local Gamestop folks seem pretty reliable. They told me back in June/July to expect Wii U pre-orders in early September and were only off by a week on their guesstimate. I was very surprised to hear that they may stop offering black Wii U pre-orders today. I was told it wasn’t even a matter of one store being able to keep going until they hit a certain amount, that it was more of a nationwide cap. Weird, huh?”
Nintendo Everything reader Andy Holland is telling us that his local GameStop is already selling out of Wii U Deluxe Set pre-orders. The manager of his store indicated that this is affecting the company as a whole.
“I just got back from my local Gamestop where I was told by its manager they are expected, as a company nationwide, to sell out of black Wii U pre-orders TODAY. If you’re interested in picking one up at your local store try to get in ASAP.”
I’ve never actually heard out of retailers selling out of pre-orders, especially one day after they become available. But Reggie did say that pre-orders have been very strong thus far… it’s always possible.
How do they run out of pre-orders? Do you just hit a point in which your shipment dates of what you can expect extend too far into the future for the demand you are getting?
You sell out of pre-orders just like you sell out of normal product.
Gamestop expects to receive X amount of WiiU's. They cannot preorder more than X amount. Nintendo is notorious for withholding supply in favor of raising demand.
yep, from what i'm told premiums at GS will be done before end of business today. probably another day or two after that to preorder the base model 'cuz nobody's been going for that so far.
ordering more than allocation just makes bad customer experiences. this isn't that wierd though, both the ps3 and the wii originally preordered out in under a day.
