Straight Right, the developer behind the Wii U version of Mass Effect 3, is currently hard at work “porting a triple-A Square Enix game to the yet-to-be-released Wii U platform,” according to the LinkedIn profile of the technical project manager Chris Slater.

The possibilities are many. It could be that the recently released Sleeping Dogs will come to Wii U. Or one of Square Enix’s older titles, such as Final Fantasy XIII-2, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, or Just Cause 2. Or it could be one of Square Enix’s upcoming games, such as Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, Tomb Raider, or Hitman: Absolution.

Marvel has confirmed that this year's The Amazing Spider-Man game will release on Wii U in Spring 2013.

The game launched on Xbox 360 and PS3 in June and while it's no revolution, it's certainly one of the better Spider-Man games in recent years, and earned itself favorable review scores across the board.

The Wii U version may be arriving a year late, but it'll include all of the download content released for the Xbox/PS3 right out of the box, and promises to make use of the GamePad touch screen and motion controls.

You'll also be pleased to know that the game's original developer, Beenox, is handling the port.

Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth is a 100% motion controlled game on Xbox 360, but the Wii U version is giving players the option to use standard controls.

If you enjoy moving your arms wildly when playing a video game, then you can do just that with the Wii Remote and Nunchuck on the Wii U version. If you are more inclined to play games sitting down, exerting as little energy as possible, then the Wii U is ready to accommodate for you as well.

Polygon reports that Ubisoft developers detailed the Wii U controls at New York's Comic-Con during a Q&A session with fans.

Those not wanting to use the Wii Remoted and Nunchuck can use the GamePad to perform moves and control the characters. As the Wii U is currently only supporting one GamePad, the second player will still have to use the motion controls to play the game.

This outlines the multiplayer, but there is still no word on whether the GamePad controls can be used for the single player mode.

Pikmin 3, previously slated for a launch window release on Wii U, will now launch in spring 2013, the latest edition of Iwata Asks reveals.

Nintendo’s upcoming Wii U console uses a new controller with a built-in screen that will allow you to play games away from the TV. Well, theoretically.

Should developers include the feature in their game, you’ll be able to switch seamlessly between playing the game on your TV screen or on the Wii U GamePad screen itself, making the device something of a console-portable hybrid. The catch is that, while the GamePad screen works lag-free when it’s in the same room as the Wii U, whether or not it will do the same when you take it into a different room depends on various factors.

In an “Iwata Asks” interview, Nintendo president, Satoru Iwata, discusses the Wii U GamePad’s range with the developers of the hardware. Will the GamePad still work the way it’s supposed to, even if there’s a wall between it and the Wii U?

“Differences will arise depending on whether you live in a house made of wood or an apartment of reinforced concrete, and what materials the walls are made out of,” Iwata says with regard to this subject.

Toru Yamashita, who worked on the Wii U’s firmware, elaborates a little further.

“If you place the Wii U console in something like a metal TV stand it may deflect the radio waves thus reducing its usable range,” Yamashita shares. “Radio waves weaken by the square of the distance, so even within the same space, too much distance could make them weaker, and having obstacles in between would be a disadvantage.”

Later in the interview, he adds: “By the way, my living room and bathroom are separated by a single wall and I was able to use it.”

So, whether or not the Wii U GamePad will work just as well between rooms in your home will depend on the thickness of your walls and the objects placed in between the Wii U console and the Wii U GamePad.

tl:dr WiiU not working for you? Your place sucks.

Got delux reserved, getting mario right off the bat, dunno about anything else yet. Big title for me is MH3U in March. I never played the new Ninja Gaiden title maybe I'll pick it up for the WiiU for fun.

Mario, ZombiU, and Scribblenauts will probably be my day ones if I can swing the money for all three. Taking the week off it comes out to blow some mandatory vacation time so I'll need plenty to keep me busy. Was bummed to realize the ZombiU MP was local only though. :/

I assumed he meant Nov 30th, but it's definitely a launch day title (unless it's not in Canada).
