Just picked up Wind Waker HD, waiting for whatever the last update was to finish.

Jesus bitchtits its taking forever, even had to cycle the power on the router to get it moving. This must have been a big update I missed.. Gannondorf figure is cool though lol.

Haven't kept up with Wii U at all, but I've recently acquired a shiny Zelda one. Is it hackable at all like the Wii is? Mostly for playing Wii games like Xenoblade which is inexplicably $80-$100.

I don't think so. You're probably better off just getting a wii and hacking it instead.

From my brief looking around it seems you can hack the vWii on it, but it seems a bit riskier than just hacking a Wii since Nintendo updates Wii U still.

Nintendo is launching a new Wii U Deluxe Set that puts the focus on value, and highlights the two biggest names in video games: Mario and his brother, Luigi. Available in stores on November 1, the Wii U Deluxe model will come with two games – New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U – all on one disc. The new configuration will sell at the low suggested retail price of $299.99, and replaces the existing Wii U Deluxe Set, which included Nintendo Land. New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U are two of the best games on Wii U. The games offer players two separate platforming adventures – one starring Mario and one starring Luigi – each filled with dozens of creative levels. Both Mario and Luigi control differently, giving each game a distinct feel and challenge. Both games showcase the refreshing originality and game play that can only be found on Nintendo systems.

You can play as cat-mario, I'm totally sold. I also like the fact that Peach is playable.

I picked up Sonic today... Not sure what I think... I really just wish they would have done another in the vein of Colors/Generations... Although tunnel level I played early on was rather cool...

While I don't disagree (looks fun if I wanted stuff do outside of XIV), I think the bigger issue is that i'm not the only one who actually forgot the Wii U even existed.
