Iirc you can load a wii game from the wii u menu now

Clicking the Disc icon when a Wii game is in the drive loads the Wii system menu for you.

I actually just finished a session of The Last Story on Wii U. When I exited back to the Wii U menu it said something new about holding B from the Wii U menu on the Wii icon to boot straight into the Wii game... or something like that. I think? Too lazy to turn it back on and check...

Ah, nevermind. When the Gamepad is booting up and the Wii U logo is on screen just hold down B and it will boot to Wii instead.

So i'm learning to hate the battery life of the wii u gamepad. I see nintendo has a high capacity battery for $32, and Nyko has released an external attachment called the UBoost which I can get for under $20 with prime shipping. Anyone have a preference to either, pros/cons. Also what's Nintendo's average delivery time on the battery?

Been using the Uboost and I like it a lot. It's a small attachment that fits perfectly on the back of the gamepad. When my gamepad battery is about to die i then turn on the charger that charges it up to full (or close to there of) before it dies itself. So your really getting 3x the battery life. And they charge together at the same time (though the Uboost takes longer to charge)

Amiibo Will Unlock Virtual Console Trials on Wii U

During last night's financial meeting, Nintendo president and CEO Satoru Iwata announced a new feature for amiibo that retro gamers will no doubt enjoy.

Tapping the plastic figurines on the Wii U GamePad will unlock time-limited trials of original Nintendo and Super Nintendo Virtual Console games. Doing so in quick succession will allow players to cycle through various scenes of particular games. Iwata likened this maneuver to swapping out cartridges.

The functionality will go live later this year for Wii U. Stay tuned for information on 3DS support, as I suspect it is only a matter of time before Nintendo brings the same feature to its line of handheld devices.
