Updating GPS in car?
So apparently my in-laws have to pay to update their gps in their Hyundai Tuscon, and it's something around $250. They asked me if there was anyway I could update it for them for free, so i'm trying to look around for a way to do this but figured I would post in here to see if anyone has attempted this and been successful.
The dashboard does have a USB slot for devices as well.
Update: Looks like it's a Navteq onboard system. Year of the car is 2011
Update2: Looks like Navteq has a system where each car has a specific serial number associated with the factory installed gps and an update requires that the numbers match or some shit.
So now I need to look into updating a Magellan stand alone gps for them.

most car GPS's do not need to be updated. Are the roads around you wrong or something? If not I see little reason to spend that much to update it just forget about it and use it as such. I understand that this really does not answer you but iv never herd of manual updates for a cars GPS

Apparently their dealer told them it doesnt update automatically and requires you to pay to update. I told them it wasn't worth it since I doubt it's even 100% current and $200+ is fucking bonkers to pay for a map pack.
Honestly I just wanted to see if I could update it manually myself but I think that's a no go with how the factory installed system is.
