Around the HoTS release they had a update or something about the ladder system sometimes putting you up against tougher opponents occasionally. This is about the closest thing I could find on it from blizzard.

A 3 League difference seems a bit extreme though lol I mean I have a high win percentage so far but not like crazy I'm 14/6.

I've been asked if I'm a smurf account like 5 times today.

EDIT: And after a 4-win streak I'm back in gold. Feels good. If I keep playing like this I can probably make plat before the season locks.

What is this i don't even

    >Be Silver at beginning of day
    >Face a Diamond as Silver he auto-quits
    >Get promoted to Gold a couple of games later
    >Face another Diamond as Gold, lose epicly because ZvZ is the most retarded matchup ever, rage about it
    >Face YET ANOTHER DIAMOND, he auto-quits
    >Get promoted to Platinum in a division with 2 other people.

    >mfw

I've been almost exclusively doing a 10 roach all-in too (except in ZvZ). I guess I never realized how powerful a good build order can be at the lower leagues. It's starting to work less and less on Protoss now though because they FFE and get 2-3 cannons and 10 roaches and speed lings can't break that unless I'm just doing it wrong. So I have to back off and then they just come and kill me a few minutes later while I try and play catch up with my economy. Would I just be better off pumping out more roaches and trying to brute force my way through or am I just screwed if they have that many cannons?

Triple post but it's been a few days.

Make sure to check out State of the Game 100 on http://www.youtube.com/user/itmeJP over the next few days as he gets the VODs out (or on twitch right now if you're subbed to him).

Day[9], NoNy, InControL and JP all together in the same room getting drunk. At the end JP actually tears up and I gotta say he got me a little misty too. There were of course some great laughs to be had too. Without SotG I wouldn't even be interested in SC2 esports. Was a great show.

He's not done with SotG but it's no longer gonna be a weekly thing cause he acknowledges that he's not really part of the SC2 scene anymore.

I haven't played any 1v1, so i don't know how the match ups are working. I know they are screwed up big time in 2v2 and 3v3. I wouldn't be surprised if 1v1s are the same way

That game was nice too, but Jaedong threw it away in my opinion.

question, is there an observer option in starcraft these days? i recall there were some observer games before, back during WoL days, but i can't find anything like that anymore. i quite frankly suck at this game and would be a waste of a perfectly good multiplayer slot, but i do enjoy watching the games.

I haven't played HotS, but in WoL, I remember you had to join the game and mark yourself as an observer (instead of team xyz). I don't think you can randomly observe games like in LoL if that's what you mean.

This is super old news and I dont know where else to put it but

Apparently in WC3 some people edited maps to make orcs stronger and dark elves weaker in secret? What the fuck. Sorry I don't have much else to contribute other than hoping Naniwa and Scarlett make it to Blizcon finals.

Destiny been playing Starcraft again, hit GM a few days ago.

Last night though him and desRow were on skype with a camgirl and she ended up doing a cumshow while moaning their names. It was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Links to vods and other archives (because the chances of them deleting them are high) in the comments in this thread: http://www.reddit.com/r/starcraft/co...girl_live_now/

Destiny's face when she started moaning their names. jfc rofl http://www.twitch.tv/destiny/b/477660074?t=365m38s (The exact moment I'm talking about is at 6:34:00ish he loses it and they had to mute their streams cause of twitch TOS ofc)

She also put #FeedNathan on her boobs. So much better than the Mia Rose incident.

He even commented on how he doesn't understand how crazy shit like this just falls into his lap.

    "Let me Nydus your main."

"Are you shaven or do you have a fungal growth?"

    So many great one-liners.

Anybody still playing on BNet? I was a mid diamond Protoss around 2 years ago, well before HotS released. What's the meta looking like these days? Any good Day9 episodes I can watch to kinda catch up?

Once StarCraft II Patch 2.1 is in your hands, you’ll find a number of exciting new leveling rewards to help customize your look on Battle.net and in-game. We’re also happy to share that we’ve increased the level cap for each race from 30 to 35 so that those of you who are hungry for more out-of-game progression can get your fix with a six-course meal of new portraits and decals.

    New Leveling Rewards

We’ve seen the immense amount of support and enthusiasm that many of you share for the animated “StarCrafts” series, created by Jonathan Burton of Carbot Animations, and we’ve also heard your requests to see more of his content added to StarCraft II. Jonathan visited Blizzard HQ a short time before BlizzCon 2013 and while he was here, we asked him to draw up a few new portraits and decals that we could offer to you in-game. Let’s take a look at the awesome artwork he put together to make this happen.

As you can see above, we’ve got a Carbot-themed portrait and decal for each race, meaning there’s a total of six brand new rewards waiting for you with Patch 2.1. All you’ll have to do to earn them is play games of StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm to gain XP and level up. Achieving levels 32 and 35 with Protoss, Terran, or Zerg will respectively award you with the decal and portrait specific to that race. Reach level 35 with each of the three races to collect them all!

    First Win of the Day

Alongside the new rewards and increased level cap, we’ve also quadrupled the amount of XP you’ll earn with “First Win of the Day” XP bonuses. Following the patch, your first win of the day with each race will award 100,000 XP so that you can pack even more punch into your StarCraft II play sessions.

We’re always looking for new ways to make leveling in StarCraft II an even more fun and rewarding experience, so we hope you enjoy these “StarCrafts”-themed portraits and decals once we release Patch 2.1. If you haven’t had the chance to check out an episode of StarCrafts yet, or just can’t get enough of Jonathan’s work, you can head to the official Carbot Animations YouTube channel and CarbotAnimations.com to stay up to date with all the latest releases.

Blizzard sues ValiantChaos over their map hacks
Blizzard Entertainment is taking a stand against the programmers behind the popular Starcraft II “ValiantChaos MapHack” cheat. The game company has sued the hackers for copyright infringement and accuses them of ruining the Starcraft II gaming experience for legitimate players.

Over the years video game developer and publisher Blizzard Entertainment has released many popular titles including World of Warcraft, Diablo and StarCraft.

As is the case with most games there is always a small subgroup of players who are happy to deceive their opponents to get an edge. Through hacks and cheats these players are able to dominate the competition with minimal effort.

In an attempt to stamp out this type of abuse, this week Blizzard filed a lawsuit against the programmers behind the popular Starcraft II “ValiantChaos MapHack.” While the true motive for the suit has no connection to piracy, most of the alleged charges are related to copyright infringement.

In a complaint filed at a federal court in California, Blizzard notes that the cheat ruins the fun for other players. The true identities of the programmers who make and sell the hack are unknown at this point but Blizzard wants them to stop distributing the software.

“The hacks and cheats made available by Defendants, including a product known as the ‘ValiantChaos MapHack’, modify the StarCraft II online game experience, to the detriment of legitimate StarCraft II users, and thus to Blizzard itself,” the complaint reads.

“Defendants create and sell their unlawful software products with the knowledge that they are facilitating and promoting users to infringe Blizzard’s copyrights, to breach their contracts with Blizzard, and to otherwise violate Blizzard’s rights.”

The complaint lists several counts of copyright infringement for using Blizzard’s work without permission, as well as breach of contract for violating the game’s terms of use.

At the time of writing the ValiantChaos MapHack remains for sale online. Users can buy the hack by joining the forum, and paying a “donation” of $62.50 for access to the VIP section of the site. The hack has been available for a few years already and during this time has generated tens of thousands of dollars in sales.

Blizzard doesn’t mention the sales aspect extensively, but focuses on how these cheats devalue the game. This causes serious harm to the the company, Blizzard says, as it results in less sales of StarCraft II add-ons and expansions.

“Among other things, Defendants irreparably harm the ability of Blizzard’s legitimate customers to enjoy and participate in the competitive online experience of StarCraft II. That, in turn, causes users to grow dissatisfied with the game, lose interest in the game, and communicate that dissatisfaction,” Blizzard informs the court.

“This results in lost sales of the game and/or ‘add-on’ packs and expansions thereto, as well as harm to Blizzard’s reputation, the value of its game, and other harms to Blizzard,” the company adds.

Blizzard asks the court to issue an injunction against the maker of the hack, which among other things would prevent them from distributing the software. In addition, they demand damages for the copyright infringements carried out by the programmers and their users, which add up to millions of dollars.

Although Blizzard emphasizes that users of the cheat are also copyright infringers, there’s no indication that they will target individual users. Instead, it appears that the company is mostly interested in making the cheating software unavailable.
