    Because it will make money?

Not that that's a good justification...

Good assessment from the comments on the same site:

Actually the studios do have that mentality because of the stupid idiots...not saying it reigns true for everyone, but as the saying goes, " Hollywood gives you more of what you pay for." it's soul sucking in Hollywood, but I blame the people that see terrible movies like Twilight before I blame the studio for making a wise business decision. If you sell knives with planned obsolescence for living, chances are you will sell to those whom you know will buy your product, and you will stick to the formula that sells those knives. I wish people were more adventurous, but when your standard of living is at stake, you look out for number one. They may not get it, but the big shots of the industry do what pays the bills like all of us. Think about it, audiences see the same Jason Stathem crap all the time, that's why they keep making shoot em ups with him, and anything that deviates from the norm is castigated. The Artist was big amongst film buffs and classic film fans, but general audiences didn't exactly embrace it because it was black and white and silent.

Without a doubt the studio system is flawed, but let's not place the blame entirely on them.

Well as long as it's not an exact rehash of the first film like the second one was, it could be good.

Second one left such a bitter taste in my mouth that the trailer for three would need to be the end-all for trailers.

Doug, Stu, Phil, go to save Alan. They have allergic reaction/get sick/exposed/something, Alan gives them medication, they wake up the next day in Las Vegas after doing god knows what and Alan has become the sole human in charge of the earths supply of limited oxygen.

Doug, Stu, Phil, go to Recall Incorporated to figure out what happened to them and begin a mission to save the human race that starts with figuring out their own memories.

The wolfpack looks to be expanding for The Hangover III. THR reports that Ken Jeong is going to play an "expanded" role in the third film. He will once again join Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, and Zach Galifianakis, who have already signed on to return. Todd Phillips is once again directing the installment, set for release over Memorial Day 2013. Schedules are currently being worked out so that Jeong can shoot the film during time off from Community. The NBC show begins filming in August and overlaps slightly with Hangover III's planned fall shoot.

Heather Graham is returning to the Hangover franchise.

The actress is reprising her character, the lovable stripper named Jade, in The Hangover Part III, being made by Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures.

The movie, which shoots this fall, reunites the three stars – Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and Ed Helms - plus brings back Ken Jeong, the scene stealer who appeared in the first two installments.

Graham did not appear in the second, Bangkok-set movie.

The actress most recently wrapped About Cherry, a porn and drug-laced drama that also stars James Franco and Ashley Hinshaw.

John Goodman is in talks to join the cast of Todd Phillips' The Hangover III in a small role. According to Variety he would play "a small role as an antagonist in the vein of the character Paul Giamatti played in Hangover II."

Goodman will join Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms, Ken Jeong, Mike Epps, Heather Graham, and Sasha Barrese in the comedy, which is set to be released on May 24th, 2013.

The movie will take place in Las Vegas and Mexico, where apparently Galifinakis' character ends up in some kind of insane asylum.
