The only thing that's aged badly with the game are the low poly character sprites/CG.
All the pre-rendered environments are still damn pretty.

VIII will never be the best simply because they tried to make that shit an epic love story, that's massive fucking fail imo.

Tight game aside from Rinoa, actually... all the female party members aside from Selphie were pretty fail. Selphie wasn't great.

Woulda been better if they just replaced Quistis and Rinoa with Kiros and Ward and let Squall fall in love with Ellone or some shit, idk.

Replace Zell with Laguna too. Fuck being pres, come kick some ass.

I loved VIII until the colossal trainwreck of an ending. Someone got good and high when they wrote that shit. Truth be told I enjoy all of the FF series in their own ways. But for my money it's VII, VIII, and III. Those ones will be my favorites for a long time. IX is right up there as well. Probably my least favorites were XII and XIII. At least XII had some decent changes to the game like the random spawning NM's which I actually did enjoy. XIII was a catastrophy.
