Game is back up to the best of my knowledge, any POL-1160/61 is just congestion.


Edit: well I can't get this to work at all, no matter what I do. Not getting the prompt to replace files, and trying check version on POL gives me a little less than 1500 files to download. In my defense I'm dumb with computers.

My SquareEnix Folder has FFXI/POL Viewew/Tetra Master in it, do I dump the files into the FFXI folder instead? Sorry for the noob question here, I'm retarded with these FFXI files.

Just drop it into the SquareEnix folder and it will merge the DL'd folder with the Final Fantasy XI folder, since they both share the same name.

My winrar sent back a bunch of errors when trying to extract the zip contents to C:\Program Files (x86)\PlayOnline\SquareEnix and is not merging the folders.

! C:\Users\Ryan\AppData\Local\Temp\update06132012.zi p: Cannot create FINAL FANTASY XI\FFXi.dll.tmp2
! Access is denied.

There are about 3000 more just like that, how do i mine fish?

Edit: folders merged... removed idiot hat, now waiting to see if I can actually update through pol

Holy shit I finally got through! 15 files to download, like I said - took 2 minutes.

I did this:

Re-extract the files to the location and remove the following files before running the check:
file.txt.tmp2
FTABLE.DAT.tmp2
patch.sin.tmp2
patch.txt.tmp2
VTABLE.DAT.tmp2

Not 100% on if this will work but I remember doing something like this before way back when because a patch didn't work.

and stuff worked btw, for those that still get like 1500ish files to download and whatnot.

Same error here. Once I finally got past the downloading info and file check portions, I had 15 files left to download. What did you do to fix the d: patch.txt error?

Im pretty sure thats a false positive for a connection issue.

You could also try to use Kaces and mine at the same time, hit No to overwrite files. This *might* reduce your 15 file download to less if POL is struggling to update.

I can't even get the download started, I get 1160, 1161 and the occasional Datxh.txt if i actually make it this far. The wife is on the same connection and is having no problems though. Very odd.

I removed those files. There were a few other .tmp2 files in there as well, do those not need to be removed? ffximain.dll.tmp2 I believe.

I only removed those that Kaces mentioned. As for the D: patch.txt thing, I just kept on hitting retry and finally got through.

I think the issue is on SE's end. For whatever reason it doesn't like me. Thanks for the help guys, I think I've done everything suggested here. Now to pound away at the retry key until I can go kaiten some arcana.
