I have avioded this thread like the plague for a very long time now but I saw this video and thought it should be posted here. I scrolled through the the last ten pages and didn't see it.
I think the best way to get over this ridiculous conversation which I suspect is meant to make fun of trans people is this: ksandra wants to be called pineapple? Fine. When we specifically refer to ksan, we can call her whatever she wants. When we refer in general to people who are not trans? We can use cis. That way we respect whatever it is people want to be called in this thread(assuming they're not trolling) but we can continue to use commonly agreed upon words to actually discuss something.
For example: ksan is a pineapple (or whatever she wants to be called) who is supportive of trans people and disagrees with limiting feminism to cisgender women only.
See? We respect ksan' wishes without destroying common meaning and making communication impossible.
I find it interesting kuya is trying to make this a "ksandra only" thing. Guess it's easier to trivialize it by ignoring I am not the only voicing this opinion.
If we used the "commonly agreed upon terms" there'd never be new terms for anything, because the majority is already using the old phrase. But don't use the word homosexual because you were asked not to. Don't use the word transexual because it's inaccurate.
But deal with it, you're cis and you're just being a baby for arguing that you don't like it and find the tone insulting.
Am I reading this right?
Going back to that 99.7% thing, you could try... not using a qualifying term? If it's a trans-woman, call her a trans-woman. If it's a female-born woman, just call her a woman.
I'm sure that's insensitive somehow, and I'm just dying to find out how.
lol
