Exactly they are underrepresented. There are significantly less trans people there then in the general population by a rather huge margin.

Absolute numbers are meaningless, there aren't 100k+ posters on bg. I wouldn't be surprised if there were more men who post there then do here on bg, if you go by absolute numbers.

Considering most trans women can't have children, and adoption is also quite a bit harder for them, due to discrimination, i think it goes without saying that a forum for moms is one of the worst places to find trans women.

On the other hand, trans women are more likely than cis women to have grown up playing video games, because they were raised as boys, and are therefore more likely to be here on bg.

i wonder if BG's unusual (apparently?) number of trans people is a legacy of FFXI's environment. Young trans people suddenly given the freedom to live with tits and tails at a formative age... be interesting to see if there's a correlation there. With the acceptance of ones' self, and whatnot. I know the game really helped me grow into a more complete person.

While I generally see it used as a derogatory term more than anything else, that's because I purposefully visit sites that showcase idiots who do that. The entire world isn't a TumblrInAction post. Not everyone is a 14yo pluto/deerkin that hates everyone not like them.

There's Twitter, XoJane, Buzzfeed, HuffPo, etc. I'm sure people submitting articles to sites are over the age of 18.
