I'm serious. In the world of most videogames, lacking in the law and order of civilized society that causes the conflicts that VGs rely on, women would be significantly less valuable than they are in actual life. When are you ever in a videogame, thinking "man I wish I was worse at this activity"? The parity achieved by many women in the context of a game can require as big of a suspension of disbelief as the central conceit of a game in total.

I don't have a problem with this usually, VGs are good escapes sometimes, but let's not get too bent out of shape at their depiction of generally being way more valuable than they realistically would be.

Like, when Lara Croft is solving puzzles and shit I'm like "Yes! Perfect use of a woman in a VG."

When she's demonstrating extreme upper body strength and killing hundreds of trained soldiers like they're nothing the whole thing starts to fall apart a bit.

I mean, it's impossible for anyone to do most of the shit we see in video games. The difference between male and female physique, substantial though it is, isn't going to allow males to kill literally 100 people in a row with a sword either. If I'm already suspending disbelief, I'm generally willing to allow my suspension of disbelief to extend to character gender.

FFs have generally shifted women towards magic/agility roles anyway.

lol... Are we actually going to have a discussion regarding realism in a medium where fat plumbers can jump six feet in the air and bullet wounds go away if you consume a ration pack... and the point of contention is "women have less upper body strength, I don't buy that shit at all"?
