Hating as much as they want and earned ire =/= "they deserve the death threats". It means they can hate as much as they want and the criticism to their own criticism is earned. Not that hard to understand.

I don't care about being critical of her. I was specifically talking about the death threats and vile shit people have been spewing about her. I just wasn't as clear in my other post as I should have been, sorry.

I think people were just pointing out a threat that was made may have been fake. That doesn't mean real ones are justified.

I know the Quinn initial threat is pretty suspect, but that doesn't mean I think any real threats are ok.

The more reading I do the more I realize he is right. I'd love to have a conversation about ethics but the entire movement really seems to be circling around discomfort with people wanting to bring gaming standards into a more modern social lens where writers, developers, and yes, gamers are held accountable for bigotry, misogyny, and exclusion.

I was sort of fascinated with this stuff because gaming journalisms issues have been of my own interests for nearly ten years now. I also still believe some of these women have done things worth criticizing. Now I realize though that that isn't what the vast majority of people aligning themselves with GG care about.

Nah not really. Only reason they're in the spotlight is because people can't ignore them. There are volumous and loud male voices in this debate too but none of them get a fraction of the oppositions attention like the women. Funny, since these women have little to no connection to the journalistic integrity problems that GG claims to care about.
