i didnt want to watch the video then i watched the video. more cringeworthy than i expected.
You guys really think some greasy looking motherfucker saying "God Bless You" is actually greeting you? Like a legit greeting? It's a veiled statement to cover up gawking. Like people in the South saying 'bless your heart' when what they actually mean is 'fuck you, faggot.'
Cmon BG, you're better than this. I think.
Hey, not wanting to make an effort to treat people on a case by case basis is just prejudice. If you want to support that, that's on you. I still don't feel bad that the chick has a lot people talk to her. Sorry.
lol

does mutual harassment lead to mutual rape?
Dunno what NYC you live in bro but people don't say good morning to eachother on the street. Getting a bagel from the Arab dude? Yup. Getting a coffee from the spanish lady selling coffee? Yup. Walking into a building for an appointment to the guard? Yup. Walking down the street or on the subway? Nope.
This ain't Mayberry.
ehh looking at the video I see two times where it was probably honest "how are you/ god bless" kind of thing. The rest are definitely trying to hit on her. All about the tone imo.
With that said, I think if someone is honestly saying hi or god bless or how are you or w/e you can usually tell and that isn't harassment.
yea i just re watched, there was 1 how you doing, 2 have a good evenings, and 1 what's happening. everything else was scummy as shit or had some version of baby, sweetie, darling. even those I listed were pretty creepy like if i were walking with my girl and someone said them it would not be a dope situation.
teach poor ugly men not to initiate conversations with women they'd like to meet/meat.
What it comes down to, is that 95+% of these guys, even the "hello"s and "how are you"s would not honestly answer "yes" to the question "do you think she wants to talk to you?"
So they don't think she wants to talk (she's not giving eye contact much less smiling at them) and they talk to her anyway. That's why they don't get the benefit of the doubt regarding "just being polite".
What in the ever-loving-fuck are you talking about?
No one said anything about anyone being polite. I'm talking about the claims of this being harassment.
Being impolite is not necessarily harassment. Having an ulterior motive isn't harassment.
People do and say things I don't like all the time. I don't get torn up about it or feel harassed. Is it annoying? Sure, but no one else gives a flying fuck and rightfully so. They aren't trying to be dickheads and I realize that so I don't hold it against them.
Wilful harassment is definitely something to be concerned about though.
Yeah, actually nyc is a good place to live if you don't want people to ever talk to you on the street. You could pretty easily walk around for years without ever having a single person say a single word to you.
Unless you're a pretty woman. Then good luck trying to go 20 minutes.
I think defining when being "hit on" is harassment has to do with context.
Aside form the following and some of the more egregious comments lie about her ass, most of the comments in that video would be seen as merely crude at a bar, for example. But she's not at a bar, she is walking dwon the street. And I feel that that changes things.
I agree with archi though. 95%+ of the time these dudes arent doin it to get some. They know they arent getting any from her.
When you insist on initiating conversation with someone who's clearly not showing interest (i.e. not making eye contact, no body language), just squawking that shit at them is annoying them. Which is harassing them. Which is harassment.
It's all about context. In a bar? Sure. At a party? Sure. Any other setting where it's common to introduce yourself to strangers? Go for it. At the gym? Eh, maybe, if she seems like she might possibly be interested. But on the street? No. On public transit? Don't even think about it. In an elevator, or while someone is working? Die in a fire.
