Most of the people in the video didn't "repeatedly" annoy any one, they said one thing and she walked away.
By your definition, it wasn't harrassment. Check and mate.
We can play semantics with the word harassment all day if we want, but if you want to just call it "annoying and unnecessary" that's fine too. I don't think saying things short of explicitly demeaning stuff should be illegal - so if we're just talking about the law, then annoyingly "holler" away. Just don't think you aren't being an annoying creeper while you do it.
But feminism isn't a discussion about what's legal and not, it's about whats socially moral or not. I don't think a lot of women understand that men want to get a woman's attention, even if the undesirables have a terrible way of doing it.
Apparently fucking not as that's what I've been doing for pages, you ignoramus.
That aside, I still don't subscribe to the theory that there are sanctioned areas for public interaction with strangers. You sound like you need to see a shrink when you guys say that kinda looney-tunes shit.
Lets also not forget that what you personally find annoying or objectionable doesn't necessarily apply to anyone besides you.
I never said that, but the fact you think so speaks volumes about you and feminism in general.
I forgot that this is all about you, and you and I are the only two people participating in this conversation. Plenty of people are saying that being "annoying and unnecessary" as you put it, is just fine - that there's nothing wrong with this behavior.
You and I disagree. Glad we're on the same page.
Uh... you're picking up a conversation thread that people were arguing with me. Of course I'm going to think you're talking to me.
How retarded are you, really? Please, let me see the depths of your stupidity.
And it doesn't actually sound like we disagree from what you're saying, it sounds like you just want to oppose me while trying to say the same things I'm saying unless you also think that there are sanctioned areas for public interaction with strangers. Maybe there should some sort of ordinance for this shit so you can 'feel safer'. We all know that feelings are more important than anything else nowadays. More important than facts or logic or making any sort of sense. Might as well say its more important than our rights too. Lets just make sure everyone plays nice with each other and always gets along and never does anything that might make any single person feel uncomfortable no matter how anyone else might feel about it.
Does anyone think that any of the behavior in the video other than that guys that follow her should be against the law? Serious question.
this thread is my fucking jam
Against the law to try and get a woman's attention? Are you serious?
Just because these minorities are very rude about it doesn't mean it's ok to say "look at how crass that is! It should be illegal to do things like that!".
What Mazmaz doesn't get (maybe because he's repressed sexually or something) is that men want to get a womans attention, just like a woman would want to get a hot males attention. Now, if you go walking down the ghetto of course you're going to attract the "wrong" type of guy, but remake this video down 5th Ave and you'd see a different result; you might even see her slow down and talk to that cute guy asking her out for some coffee.
Maybe you guys have lived behind a computer screen too much, there is nothing wrong with engaging a stranger as long as you aren't disrespectful or harmful to them. A lot in that video was disrespectful, arguable not harmful, and none of it is surprising when you're basically walking down the anus of NYC. Why are people surprised that it's getting called out when some one in this thread uses it as an example of men "doing it wrong", like we don't already fucking know that...-_-
