Archi just stop, just cause it's Manhattan doesn't mean it doesn't have poor people or minorities that act like other minorities from poorer places in the city.

Also, just cause rent is expensive doesn't mean it's not a ghetto. They're paid like new Yorkers....and pay rent like a new Yorker. If they made New York money and lived in Ohio it's one thing, but they're being paid New York money then go pay out the ass for anything and everything. You mean to tell me these people are cat calling this woman then going off to smoke Cuban cigars and drive away in their Tesla?

Maybe if I get the time I'll try and find some of the streets she was walking on, but that definitely won't be for some hours.

I can't honestly say that I've heard anyone get catcalled in Pittsburgh. That doesn't mean it doesn't happen, but I've lived here for 5 years and live pretty close to the city center. Perhaps if I hung out downtown more I'd hear it.

But yeah, I don't comment on how women look in any way ever. She looks hot? Don't tell her. She looks ugly? Don't tell her. She looks pregnant? Super don't tell her. She looks classy-nice today and you know her pretty well so it's obvious she's putting a little more effort in for some reason and you'd like to let her know that it's working? Still don't fucking tell her or let on that you noticed. (all the positive-compliment rules are void only if you're in a physical relationship with the person)

For guys, if I see someone at the bus stop who is obviously a little uncomfortable in his suit but is making it work, I'll drop in with a "Looking sharp today, man. Got a job interview or something today?" like I'm the burgh's men's fashion aficionado. It hasn't failed to strike up a good natured conversation / kill some time yet and it gives the person a little more confidence.

It's a gender difference. Men are much more aggressive.

Look at all the message rate testimonies of women that do online dating vs. men. If it became socially acceptable to comment on every hot girl that walked by (and it's currently not), she'd get 10,000 compliments before she got to work. If it was exactly like online dating, some percentage of them would be wildly inappropriate hail mary sexual propositions.

An equally attractive man might get one bro trying to boost him up door-to-door.

I like how the only white guy they could put in the video was on his phone and didn't even look at her and said "nice" out loud. A damn shame they couldn't find any blatant examples of a white cat caller for the video.

Okay, so, trying to get a handle on where the discussion went.

One of the few females in this discussion, just to not say the only one, said she doesn't approve of cat calling.

Just to be clear: does anyone here disagree with that? As in, does anyone here think that cat calling is acceptable and women should just deal with it?

Depends on what you call a catcall.
If someone says 'God bless you', yes, I think women (or anyone, really) should just deal with it.

Deal widdit, guy that followed her for 5min was totally unacceptable though. Let me know when guys start screaming at girls in the street to gargle their semen and I'll change my mind.

I however would never catcall anyone as i find it abrasive and weird. Also i have a very delicate psyche and i must maintain the illusion that i can never be denied by a woman and having my catcalls turned down would drive me to suicide.

You know what's funniest about that video? Any woman would keep on walking, and not cause of the catcalling. These guys have nothing better to do in the afternoon but loiter on a side walk and shout as she passes by; she would never stop to socialize with these men cause they don't have jobs or something better to do with their time.

Now, if these guys came up to her with nice clothes on, a walk that doesn't look like they lost their leg in Nam, and a vocabulary that doesn't include the words "ey yo gurl", she would respond differently and keep this video around as the time she met her children's future daddy.
