Anything that plays on peoples insecurities will eventually lead to at least some % of people to internalize it and begin to blame many of their issues on it even when it doesn't affect it in the slightest. I have seen so many people blame height,jaw,eye color, skin color, baldness on everything wrong with their life from love to job advancement. Sorry, I meant not significant compared to other real oppression certain people experience, because it greatly outweighs this, and they probably already feel that way anyway, so it's not really going to make it worse. Imaginary oppression can certainly have a more significant effect on people who aren't actually oppressed (or not much).

A person who is 6'3 is on average going to earn 5,500$ more than a person who is 5'9. The average US income is 51K/yr so that is basically a 10% wage gap based solely off height.
Blonde women earn more than brunettes or redheads.
Fat men and women earn less.
Men with thin hair earn less.
Men with weak chins and baby faces earn less.

There will always be people who are discriminated against whether consciously or unconsciously for as long as humanity exists. I understand wanting to even the playing field and attempting to restructure society in a way as to give everyone a relatively fair chance regardless of who they are. But no matter how much you change peoples opinions on things they will always have preferences, and as long as there are people who are tall,gorgeous and not suffering from mental ailments, they will do better than everyone else.

Short of making all sane, extremely attractive individuals prostrate themselves on the ground every day apologizing for their privilege like a Muslim prayer I don't see what forcing people to acknowledge their privilege would do. This all seems like a really shitty attempt to teach people empathy but instead just comes off to people as aggressive and anti-them.

I would be happy if i could do well enough that i could even survive on my own. Currently that is 100% impossible for me. I would be absolutely thrilled to make 90% of what an average 6'3" white man made.

edit: like, i'm not delusional. I know not everyone is equal, and society is never going to treat them as such. The disparity between some people though is mind bogglingly enormous. I just want everyone to have an actual chance at a decent life. I don't care one bit if some can only take 2 international vacations per year, while others can take 3. That's close enough.

a Washington DC court ruled today that in the case of rape accusations, the onus on the accused of proving they obtained consent (as opposed to prosecution proving they did not, like literally every other crime) violates due process

on the other hand, Ezra Klein of Vox believes that due process is a luxury we can do without for a while and it's no big deal if a couple innocent men are caught in the crossfire if it means we'll finally change that 1 in 5 statistic!
