Nope, I literally just wasn't talking about that.
Arguing with me by saying things I agree with and don't have to do with what I'm talking about (harassment, for those who still don't get it) just doesn't make any sense.

I mean, if you want to say irrelevant things, go right on ahead. Don't quote me when you do it though.

Until its confirmed what this tweet is alluding to and who the people who made threats against themselves as a third party, theres no reason to believe any of it is real. There has already been very circumstantial and coincidental evidence that some of Anita's death threats may have been faked, and could very well be the ones the tweet is referring to.

You can't know what someone's boundaries are when they 'don't' tell you. Keep in mind that we're talking about saying hello to peeps in the street walking in areas where this kind of behavior is apparently normal (since its trying to show what the chick's supposed every day life is like) and then expecting that dudes shoulda known better.

The whoa crazy point that I kept repeating over the last few pages of the argument when it came up before was that people are different and you never know how someone's going to feel (which you're trying to act like I don't already know, dipshit) and that its kinda difficult to make this assumption before you actually open your damn mouth to speak to them (unless they show some REALLY obvious signs of disinterest like having headphones on or whatnot).
You can certainly guess though, based on local culture. So okay, if you're Texas, feel free to say hello to anyone you walk past. If you're in nyc, don't say a word to anyone you walk past ever. Anywhere else, do whatever everyone else in the area does. If you're not sure, then err on the side of not saying anything, unless a bunch of people you've walked past have said hello. Where i'm from, no one says hello to anyone when walking around, so if someone does do it, it's rude, and probably harassment. But hey, if it's different where you live, then that's fine. If you're following local culture, then you're fine. You might still upset some people, but probably not many.

isn't following local culture a part of the patriarchy that we're fighting against? also, there's nothing progressive about being subservient to cultural pressure, the patriarchy is a part of cultural pressure.

    Fucking love you Lmao.

Why can't we just read body language and context and say hi unless it's obvious we shouldn't do so otherwise? If we assume wrong and they really don't want us around, "my appologies, have a nice day".

the solution is for everyone to wear a version of those dog collars "im friendly, you can say hi to me" "i'm a hot grill, keep your lowly pleb eyes out of my general vicinity"

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

    So ,much this.

I get it, some people don't like another to say hi to them. But it's at most an irritant. It isn't harassment, it isn't rape, it doesn't take time out of your day to ignore them, it doesn't require physical contact. And for those that find it an irritant, just ignore it and move on with your life. No harm was done to you.

(Again, this is only in cases where a passerby simply says hi, if they take it farther than it is probably harassing.)

this is what this entire argument has been about. but since hey and maz are the only two repeatedly insisting it is harassment, and they're
    Spoiler: show

i think it's safe to move on now.

It doesn't even matter dude. Let this thread die out until the next feminist molests her sister or blames school violence on testosterone instead of mental health.

Harassment is obviously harmful. If someone can't walk around for more than a few minutes without being bothered, that is going to take its toll on their mental health.

so, this would be an excellent thread to try out those old rules. the Hey "Hey" cycle hasn't yielded anything new in pages. I feel like at this point it's just trolling.

Yes, but you see, thats a personal issue, not a general issue. Its not expected that your average human will have their mental health ravaged by someone saying "hi". "Hi" is not expected to cause long lasting emotional scaring, nor by any social norm is it considered to be disrespectful. There are verbal communications that are expected to cause emotional harm: racial slurs, sexual slurs, commenting on physical appearance, etc. These are expected to cause harm. A greeting is not.

If you really have a problem with people talking to you while you're walking down the street, put some headphones on. We generally all seem to agree that is a physical sign of "dont bother me". If someone starts waving their hands in your face to get your attention to say "hi", thats harassment. If someone physically grabs your arm to get your attention, thats harassment and assault. Bear in mind, whether you're in the street or a designated hookup zone, waving your hands in some girls face is still harassment, and physically grabbing a girl is still harassment and assault.

Discussing something for a long time isn't against any rule that i'm aware of.

That's one way of looking at it...

Could you actually get used to it? Maybe even leverage it to make your own life better

Or is walking around talking to strangers an oppressive structure of society that needs to change because it's unfair to certain people? Cause.. that's sounds like the neurosis of the lonely and frustrated

I can't help but think this is just another opportunity to shift the blame of one's lack of success to men, the patriarchy, assholes, chatty cathy's, etc when it all actually boils down to some personal shortcoming that won't get admitted/changed/embraced. The personal shortcoming here being lack of social skills and success being having fun/enjoying society and the people in it
