Certainly you could get used to it. I'm sure people in places where it's customary to say hello to everyone you pass are used to it. I can't even begin to imagine it being beneficial though.

I can't help but think this is just another opportunity to shift the blame of one's lack of success to men, the patriarchy, assholes, chatty cathy's, etc when it all actually boils down to some personal shortcoming that won't get admitted/changed/embraced. The personal shortcoming here being lack of social skills and success being having fun/enjoying society and the people in it

When you insist on initiating conversation with someone who's clearly not showing interest (i.e. not making eye contact, no body language), just squawking that shit at them is annoying them. Which is harassing them. Which is harassment.

You can't play the lottery if there's no ticket for sale. If they're not looking at you/smiling/body language/etc. they're not interested in you playing.

Women aren't as much attracted to a guy's looks as they are his charisma, confidence, charm, etc. If a girl isn't smiling/looking at you/body language that does NOT mean she's not interested. If I go up to a girl and after I open my mouth I can tell she's awkward about it, or upset, I'm the first to back off, apologize, say have a nice day, and leave

On the other hand, if a guy isn't giving a girl a second look he's probably not interested. But that's just the way sex works. You trying to change that is literally going against nature and you're gonna have a tough time about it

Saying "hello" isn't offensive-- some people might be offended, but that's honestly *their* problem. Some people are offended by others being gay, or black, or short, or ginger. Others are offended at them being offended by that. And then they are, in turn, offended that people are offended that they're offended at people being gay or black or short or ginger.

To the first part, so we're agreed, that some people will feel harassed and yet we do not care at all. As for the rest of this, is this a serious argument we're having now, that "people get offended by some things that i think are stupid so no one can justifyibly be offended by things i think are dumb"? Oh, are we ready to admit that this is about sex, not about being polite? Sure, sometimes its not, but more often it is, this entire conversation has been muddied by trying to argue that saying "hi" to someone as a polite gesture exists in some non existent world where people have no intentions other than being polite all of the time(except for Maroo who's doin work, savin lives) If we recognize that as indicated by what Thunder has to say on the issue this is more often about sex than it is about being polite can we not at least recognize that being treated as some man's conquest when you're trying to get to work just might, maybe, be reasonable to consider annoying, frustrating, and yes, depending on the context frightening?
