Eh, she lives right in the center of LA and walks a lot, she has more exposure to potential catcalling than most LA residents who spend 99% of their outdoor lives in their cars.

Ever since I moved to LA I walk to the grocery store, never take the car. Since I don't take the car there is only so much I can bring so I pretty much walk there about every other day.

She pretty much says that every hello from a random uninvited stranger that she engaged with turned into a pickup attempt - so while in theory "hello" isn't always catcalling, if women experience that every hello in that context is a pickup attempt, what are they supposed to do?

Well, think of the context. If she's just walking around and not in a specific environment where conversation would happen about something else (think, convention or something), then what else would a man initiate with a random woman about? This goes back to being genuine about it, or disgusting.

A very very gorgeous friend of mine told me a story once of when a man walked up to her and asked if he could take her out for a cup of coffee sometime, and she said she was flattered but already seeing some one. The man responded with "he if a very lucky man then, take care" and walked away. Men are going to go after women, but we can choose to be animals about it, or be civilized about it. It's a shame we would want to focus on the bad and not on how to do it right.

Anndddd after writing that I just realized why wedding rings are so damn important.

Didn't catch it before. Not sure how this proves anything, when even the guy making it says it proves nothing.

1) There exists people who won't be bothered by it.
2) Half of these people were working, no shit they are going to be extra friendly and not say anything if someone offends them.
3) Sometimes if someone is intimidated by someone they might go along with whatever they say, to avoid upsetting or angering them.
