Why is that? Facebook has never been about Zuckerberg. It's been about the product speaking for itself. Zuckerberg as the 'face of Facebook' didn't mean anything until it had a huge userbase. At that point, it didn't matter who it was behind it.

We saw it earlier in the thread. According to dudebros, Brianna Wu is unprofessional because she didn't put on makeup or throw on a suit for a youtube interview, meanwhile Zuckerberg is strutting around in t-shirts at every event.

Women can't win in the workplace. If you don't wear makeup or put on a suit, you're unprofessional. If you do, "you're spending too much time and energy on your looks, you'll never be as successful as me, a man in my t-shirts".

While I will certainly concede that women have to deal with more critique of their appearance than men, I don't think the differences are as great as many people seem to imply. Take politics for example. Men in politics get viscously mocked on a regular basis for the way they look and dress. There was the whole Obama tan suit debacle, there's Chris Christie's weight, Santorum's sweater vest, etc. In most jobs men will have a standard uniform, whether it's a suit or otherwise, and there is little they can get wrong; when they do get it wrong, as in choosing the wrong colour or not having it tailored to fit correctly, it tends to get pointed out in a derisive manner. Their suitability for the job gets called into question based on their age as well: Obama was too young and inexperienced, McCain was a few beats away from a heart attack, Ron Paul was a crazy, old gold prospector.

Zuckerberg gets mocked all the time as well. Marissa Meyer is maybe not the perfect analogy (she's maybe more similar to Eric Schmidt in this sense), but she's someone who tends to be a bit awkward and geeky and is widely accepted and respected in business and tech.

Again, I'm not trying to minimize the problem or claim that men have it worse in any way, but I think that even with some very shallow digging it's easy to unearth examples of the exact same things happening to men. I really doubt that the majority of instances of harsh critique, skepticism or mockery are committed solely or even primarily due to the gender of the target.

I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt and assume your stupid false dichotomy is based in ignorance of cameras instead of deliberate ideological shitposting. digital cameras come as cheaply as like $4-600 for a basic model DSLR. you know, like the kind of model you might use if you're so clueless about how to use one that you publish a selfie with a fucked up depth of field.

if you can afford to drop $1200 on the highest end model of a gadget you haven't got the first clue how to use (like you might be able to if your company got paid $160,000 to make a dozen youtube videos of a woman talking into a camera) I don't think you get to say it's asinine to think you're making pretty good money.
