What makes me uncomfortable is that feminists are having an apoplectic meltdown over a fucking shirt that was DESIGNED AND SOLD BY A WOMAN. I guess that whole empowered woman, do whatever you want, don't let the patriarchy hold you back, you are strong woman, goes right out the window at the first sign that a man appreciates the female body enough to want to look at it and wear a shirt with a woman on it.

Nice to see that the feminist woman is so confident that she loses her shit at the first sign of someone wearing a shirt she doesn't like.

No one is being sent home packing because of one shirt. The problem is they were never there to begin with because of this, and countless other things like it. Again, it's not about one shirt, that is just one tiny piece of the puzzle.

Why does it matter that it was designed by a woman? How does that change anything? There's nothing wrong with the shirt's existence. The problem is the setting it was worn in.

And those would be the feminists who didn't raise a stink about the shirt in the first place. Those aren't the feminists being discussed in this thread as far as I can tell. Those would be the people who support the idea of gender equality and humanity generally making an effort to be less shitty to one another, but who don't actually identify as feminist because of shit like this that self identifying feminists pull on a regular basis.

Whatever it is, it isn't going to be solved by "raising awareness that the issue exists!" in the most provocative and inflammatory way. Harassing the guy until he had to apologize, AND THEN harassing him more? lmao, way to go "feminists", way to go.. (I say "feminists" because, imo, these aren't feminists, they're losers who get their rocks off complaining and want to be a part of the next mobbing)

Everyone wants to be a feminist but nobody wants to do the work. All you want to do is whine and complain because it's easy and makes you feel good - no research, no ACTUAL data on problems keeping women outside of science other than mah feelings. It's the least scientific way to go about things, which is ironic

Just complain. Don't offer an alternative, don't help. Inflame and agitate. No mention that the US/EU is the best place for women to live in the world right now and it's doing more for women in science/tech than EVER IN HISTORY. No mention that almost ALL famous scientists are promoting having/wanting more women in science. Look at these guys' twitters, "In #Interstellar: Of the leading characters (all of whom are scientists or engineers) half are women. Just an FYI". That's Neil deGrasse Tyson last week... wouldn't parroting that be way more effective in motivating more women into science and reaching out to misogynists in science to accept more women than this bullshit shirt business? Yeah, so would the other thousand things top scientists have said, but it just isn't as satisfying as complaining!

Sometimes I feel like these complainers are so out of touch with good feelings that they do this hate/rage thing just to feel something. Do something productive, get a hobby, make relationships, trailblaze your way into the top echelons of science and do your best to promote women in science. And then weep because the SJWs aren't retweeting you and media outlets aren't running with your story - they're running with angry bullshit

Your attempt to disingenuously portray this guy's shirt as THE SINGLE REASON that a person would choose another field - I see it.

I get why being a huge anti-feminist douche is appealing for internet arguing - you can never run out of ways to intentionally misunderstand the issue, twist it and manipulate something as simple as not depicting women as objects and then feel awesome about yourself for frustrating people for whom that is common fucking sense.
