Wut
Seriously, you guys are going to have to explain how it was better for men before women's sexual liberation to me.
who has said/implied otherwise?
Look guys, all I'm saying is that I'm clearly all about equality because regardless of race, creed, gender, or other identities I extend the exact same offer to every human being on the planet to accept that I matter more than they do.
feminism isn't required to hold the belief that women's sexual liberation benefits men. you seem to be confused on that.
But women's sexual liberation does benefit men.
I'm not saying they did it for men's benefit lol - I'm simply saying we benefit from it.
When people say "feminism helps men" it's helpful to understand a couple things. One is that "feminism" has referred to at least three ideologically disparate movements over the course of many decades, and the second is that "helps" is one of those doing-words that refers to the present frame of time.
Feminists continue to fight for access to birth control and abortion, and continue to fight patriarchal structures that shun female sexuality.
Do you guys follow the news like, at all?
Is the feminism that, say, protests the hobby lobby decision "not feminism"?
You guys are just obsessed with the fringey stuff, not the meat and potatoes of feminism.
I get that that stuff is "old news" but that doesn't make it not a constant battle.
This is stupid.
This entire argument is archie grasping at straws and I really wish people wouldn't quote him so I don't have to see that dumb shit anymore.
Everyone knows that when people say "femimism helps men too" they are generally referring to changing of perceptions with regard to sexual assault and gender norms and such. We see evidence in this case that attitudes toward this type of thing with regard to men have not changed which only goes to show that feminism does nothing to help men in this regard and feminists don't particularly care about it either.
Its a self-serving ideology and this flies in the face of the notion that anyone who believes in gender equality should consider themselves feminist (which comes as a package deal with the whole "feminism helps men too" bullshit).
That someone would attempt to act like they don't know this shit and argue ad nauseam that "hey, you get more pussy due to feminism hurrrrrrrrrr" is a bit sickening and certainly is dishonest.
I honestly had no idea that "feminists help men too" was code for "feminists help male sexual assault victims".
I wouldn't even think to look to feminists to lead the way in male rape survivor's rights, (I mean, thats hardly their raison d'etre) although to the extent that a feminist dismisses such concerns they are worthy of criticism.
Eh, "feminism" managed to ban a guy who taught men how to literally be the best versions of themselves from the UK, Brazil, and Australia. To say that "feminism" as a whole is helpful for men too is a lie people tell themselves to be OK with what's happening. Or they just don't know.
"Feminism" tries and get those weird-ass consent laws down on paper where you need signatures or whatever other sexual-tension breaking BS as well
There's a lot going on that's literally anti-sex. I won't say a majority, because there's a lot of good and much needed feminism going on in the world. But there's definitely a lot of anti-sex stuff going around in 1st world countries
