It's the same thing, yes. All of us civilized people don't use that word because it offends a lot of people. If moron did also, then you should do the same (it doesn't though). The fact is, we've all already adjusted our language based on what upsets people. The only difference is at what threshold we decide it is worth eliminating a word from our vocabulary.

Issue an apology for running an advertisement that says "we are having a mattress sale, all mattress are half off". Because some girl who got raped feels that the word "mattress" triggers her rape memory, or "half off" triggers that the rapists just took her pants "half off"

Well that's not going to cause a large scale reaction, so it can just be ignored.

His superiors determined he wasn't worth keeping around not because of the content of his article but because said content (that it allegedly isn't about) got someone buttblasted that their golden calf was being ridiculed and called into question. Again, it wasn't an article about feminism, it was poking fun at the entire tumblr-buzzword reality these people live in.

Criticism: Not allowed. What happened in return wasn't criticism, it was silencing. There was no op-ed to argue the counter points and present the realities some of these words came from, there was no "Well, you're mocking something that actually affects lots of people" or anything reasonable. It was "I feel threatened, apologize for your satire (but it's not about satire)" which was justifiably turned down. Imagine if at the end of every Colbert Report there was a lengthy list of apologies about every joke that got made. They dug up a loophole to remove him because I imagine even the newspaper folks realized "Your article (which this isn't about) made someone feel unsafe so you have to leave" sounds ridiculous.

Archi seems to always defend Hey's points, or support them, whatever. A couple pages back, Hey was talking about "how great hitler was" (taken well out of context). We all contact Archi's boss, and say "hey, this guy supports Hitler and the holocaust, this is extremely offensive to us and we will not support anything your company does while you have neo-nazis on staff". Archi gets fired...and for a little coup-de-grace, we egg your house and spraypaint swastikas on it.

The only reason this particular case is "controversial" is because it's about feminists, and y'all don't want to acknowledge that they have anything to complain about.
