I mean, I'm not in favor Cuoco worshipping, but seriously. If she feels that feminism has granted her the ability to be aggressive with her career and still be a housewife "just like she always wanted" I fail to see how that sets the women's movement back. It's almost in the same vein as saying wanting to be in a traditional marriage with a woman somehow sets the gay marriage rights movement back. The word "traditional" is confusing to some and infuriating to others. It's a poor choice of words, but in principle it's basically saying "Hey I love how these guys are fighting for more rights. I'm content with what I have and don't identify with needing more".
oh look a celebrity disparaged the church of feminology and had to apologize for it within a week how unexpected
here's your officially sanctioned daily reminder that feminists are definitely fragile and oppressed and absolutely not disingenuous bullies
I love when someone who hasn't posted in a while jumps in and reiterates the same argument we resolved 3 pages ago. None of those are the problem at hand Kuronosan just go back and read I'm tired
Here, fuck it i found it for you, just read from here for like 2 pages: http://www.bluegartr.com/threads/111...=1#post6315505
Do me a favor and shush. Your opinions are rarely relevant or profound.
To elaborate, in case you cry to the mods, I would rather be me - the guy who enters the conversation (sometimes late because I work in fucking health care), gives his opinion, learns something new, and attempts to contribute, than be you - the guy who comes into a topic, posts nothing productive, learns nothing, and then leaves because his point was refuted worse than a kindergartner's thesis in Stephen Hawking's upper-level physics class.
You literally post one post and leave a conversation without offering anything remotely resembling constructive discussion once it's become apparent you have no clue what you're talking about. Need examples? Try looking at the outbreak thread.
So please, if you want to refute something I said and offer comments I can learn from, do so. If you just want to be pissy because you feel it's unacceptable for someone to arrive late to the party and you're not done white-knighting, do the board a favor and be quiet.
I have my derp moments, but Jesus man. You are literally contributing NOTHING to this topic except a treatise on why everyone here is a scumsucking asshole of a man instead of actively engaging people in serious conversation.
Soooooo... On topic... About that 300 million dollars in money feminist frequency is getting credit for from Intel..
Intel will partner with Feminist Frequency, The National Center for Women and Information Technology, The Anita Borg Institute, United Negro College Fund, Girls Who Code, Society of Women Engineers, the E-Sports League, the International Game Developers Association, Rainbow PUSH, National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering, and several other organizations.
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news...tiative-at-CESLast night, Intel CEO Brian Krzanich stated that he wanted his company's workforce to match the diversity of the U.S. population by the year 2020. "It's time to step up and do more. It's not good enough to say we value diversity," says Krzanich.
Intel will use the $300 million to fund scholarships for women and minorities in technology and to support majority black colleges and higher education institutions. Intel will also "significantly increase" its hiring, progression, retention of women and minorities. Krzanich said the company will measure and report on its progress on a regular basis, and hold leaders accountable by "tying their pay to our progress.".

but i guess misrepresentation is easier
good on Intel anyways, a lot of people endlessly decry the whiteness and maleness of the tech industry but this is the first example i can think of a major player devoting significant resources in an attempt to fulfill their ideals.
So...a quota system then? Must have X% of the workforce be of a certain demographic...because diversity. Sure. Because that makes sense. Not "make sure our hiring process doesn't inadvertently fuck over certain demographics", but "make sure we get this many employees of each demographic".
Am I the only person who sees the problem here?
No but I'm sure that people will think you're racist/sexist for it anyway.
edit: Wait, feminist frequency? Really? lol
I get your point, because you feel they should be hiring the best qualified for the job even if it means continuing to hire more white men. However, I see nothing wrong with donating money to STEM programs for women and minorities to increase the percentage of those groups in the field. With time and patience they eventually won't need to give preferential treatment, but if that happens in our lifetime idk.
Good thing i just bought an intel CPU before they hire a bunch of idiot women just to fill diversity. and by idiot women i mean a woman who applies for a job at the same time of a man, who is documented to be more intelligent in their educational background compared to said woman, but gets passed over because of sex quotas.
It's against the law to hire based on gender...
The point here is that they're spending three hundred million dollars to promote education for women and minorities so they don't have to worry about picking (as you so eloquently put it, like you always do) "idiot women".
Hiring based on gender is illegal, but it is quite easy to just hire or not hire someone and not discuss who else applied or what their qualifications were. The reason we did not hire women was because the one time we did, within 2 weeks, we already had a sexual harassment investigation because some GUY said "stop being a pussy" when another GUY was whining about being sore from work. She overheard and took offense to it, claiming he was calling her names. It was quite the shit show and after that, it was easier to not hire women than deal with anything else like that in a grossly male dominated industry.
It means they will look for qualified women and minorities instead of taking the first 10 qualified applications and choosing one, and actively promote them over others. It doesn't mean they will be hiring "idiot women" to screw with the more intelligent, and clearly better in every way, male counterpart.
Yeah, that's all well and good on paper, but what happens if we provide every conceivable opportunity for women to succeed in these fields and we still get the same numbers of women entering these fields? I'm all for giving people free educations regardless of the demographics involved, but if people don't want to study a particular subject then no amount of scholarship money is going to change things.
And if they help ease them into a future they dont want to really do because "the education is free", they will care less about their work.
we can have the affirmative action fight again if you all desire, but given there are no hard specifics on the practices Intel will put into place (tying pay to "progress", "greatly increase" hiring, progression, and retention-political relations corporatese that says next to nothing) seeking to promote greater diversity, crying quota may be premature
money money will change things, advanced postindustrial economies are increasingly marked by stark delineation between low-paying service industry jobs and higher paying technology-oriented jobs (there are now more millionaires in Silicon Valley than Manhattan). to illustrate the desirability of positions in the industry, less than one half of one percent of applicants to Google get hired; attracting the interested is not especially difficult and should trendlines continue tech jobs will be increasingly attractive to any given member of society.
also you all seem fixated on the penis-vagina gap but there is a massive push to make the industry less white as well. as many minority advocacy organizations were listed as feminist ones
