Amazing.
Amazing.
haha
XD. Don't care if fake (probably), still lulz.
You're joking, right?
I've haven't read the entire topic, so I'm sorry if this has been mentioned.
Even in the industry I work in (Video Lottery Game) sex sells. The main thing that I keep hearing and we even keep seeing is that woman are more willing to sit down at a game that has attractive woman in them, than a man sitting down in front of a game that has hot guy displayed in it.
One example I can think of is that we went to the local Casino a while ago and the Playboy game there had an even split of men and woman playing it. Something tells me if it was a Playgirl game it wouldn't have as many men as woman.
That could be just because of where we are though. In a larger city or area it may be that way.
Edit: Man that was a long read.. good way to kill a morning :D
I guess my statement is a little late to the game.
Me? Always.
I'm aware of the meme, but was never clear whether they were supposed to be partially true stories embellished for the sake of the meme (the dude actually sold a dongle to a hardcore feminist, just didn't emphatically insist on the male/female thing or conclude with the usual sentence) or whether they were just merely thought up, in which case it's somewhat disappointing.
Let's be clear here, most of the people who write this stuff wouldn't be the sort of people to say anything to anyone's face, even a passive aggressive tone.
Never fails to make me laugh.
Spoiler: show
Has this been posted yet? (Probably has, but too lazy to look back.)
I kinda disagree with his comment about justifying the history bit. My take has always been, you can't forever punish men for what happened before they were born. You should always research and learn about history, but it's one thing to learn about Pearl Harbor, it's another thing to blame the Japanese anytime something bad happens to them. Feminists should not look at what happened in the past to justify themselves. They really need to start looking at the facts TODAY.
But the Patriarchy controls the flow of information!
i mean for fuck's sake it's even called HIStory. patriarchy all up in dis bitch
I admittedly stopped watching it at about 1:05 in, and for two reasons. One: at that point, he started talking about all of the "feminists" who told him that everything is the fault of men. Two: I had already lost interest in him once he talked about how the statement at the beginning of the video was harmless. These two things told me that his Twitter followers/commentors are stupid, and that he is also stupid.
However, I thought I'd give it another shot, so I resumed playing the video. He went on to talk about how female genital mutilation is seen as a bad thing, and it should be, and he then talked about how circumcision is acceptable, as if these two things could even be compared. This is already idiotic, as circumcision exists for completely different reasons that are outside of gender equality issues, and is perpetuated by cultures that have a far more significant presence in the world than those who practice female genital mutilation, but whatever. I'm already less interested than I was before, but I soldier on. Unfortunately, he then went on to suggest removing yourself from the cultural context related to circumcision while thinking about it, which is absolutely retarded. That's where the watching ended.
I stand by my original assumption, that being: he's as stupid as the people who talked shit on his feminism rant. By claiming that all problems are caused by men, they are ignorant; by his making the statement and standing by it, he is also ignorant. Morons all around.
i don't disagree at all with his underlying notion that discrimination should be combated regardless of what engenders it and regardless of who it effects, and so the identity politics radical feminists play are harmful, but the false equivalency so many anti-feminists claim is utter horseshit.
now America is clearly far better than a country where say a rape victim is lashed for her promiscuity or a father can burn his daughter's face off to save the family honor, but even here 1 in 4 women will be raped in their lifetime and only 3% will ever see their assailant punished for his crime. there hasn't been a draft since fucking Viet Nam. it's not equivalent.
"Feminists explain to me that ALL inequality that exists between the genders FAVORS men over women. ALL of it. EVERY single instance of inequality between the genders FAVORS men and SUBJUGATES women. THAT is their contention."
(caps for his random voice raising)
Who is "they" making "their" contention? Who are these feminists that actually believe things that extreme (ly retarded)?
Oh, right, they're almost entirely non-existent. But they're sure easier to argue against, so that's definitely what everyone should spend their time doing.
I think this sums up a lot of the argument:
http://www.harkavagrant.com/?id=341
So I'm just curious and the only reason I'm asking at all is because I had a conversation with my wife, mother, sister and father recently on the topic of circumcision. This isn't really on the topic of gender equality.
I'm not for circumcision. I made it abundantly clear recently that I'm not going to have it done to any sons I may have.
My mother did not agree and claimed a couple of reasons why it should be done.. the main one being cleanliness and something to do with old age and not being able to aim properly. She was taking care of my grandfather for a few years before he was so bad he was better off in a Veteran's Home so I'm sure that's what prompted that thought.
My sister sided with me saying it was unnecessary.
My wife sided with my mother, but after seeing how much I disliked the idea she claimed that it would be my call. Quite generous of her given past conversations on other topics.
My Father said nothing but only asked if I was... which seems like an odd question to me because you would think he would have been involved in the decision. Truthfully I remember someone asking me at some point in my teens and I had no idea of the answer. It's not like I looked around or saw a lot of other guys' junk to see what the difference was.
Backstory aside.
To me, the reason I don't want it done is because I feel it's unnecessary. My mother's claim of cleanliness seems a little off because as far as I'm concerned you just teach proper cleaning methods to your children as the grow up. I also told her that perhaps those old guys couldn't aim because they had a shake in their hands or something. Hell, you can stand in front of a toilet and aim right for it, but the stream goes off in some other direction entirely. Penises are weird.
Now your statement makes it sound that because male circumcision has been going on for generations and that it's more accepted it's okay to do. Would that be the case for female circumcision if it was reversed?
Sorry for the semi-rant. A lot of typing for a two line question :D
I think all of this diarrhea could easily be avoided if people just limited themselves to actually debating what a single person actually says rather than producing their own idea of what the other person is actually saying and then using vagueness such as "most feminists say this". Because every time i see some guy (or fat chick) whine about feminism, it's usually about their perception of what some feminists think.
I mean, you know what? At this point i would prefer it if they quoted a real feminist, even if she's crazy. Cause it least we wouldn't be arguing straws.
Ditto what Vandalhart said. Trying to justify male circumcision by virtue of how long it's been done is the exact same argument that pro-slavery people used when we tried to abolish that. Right and wrong (morality) is not determined by history. History has incredibly fucked up morality compared to now.
Is it *absolutely* necessary to have a foreskin on a penis? No, but tonsils aren't necessary either. Nor is the appendix. However, we don't go removing these vestigial organs from infants to "save them trouble later in life." Surgery is always the last resort, and is only done when shit is going wrong. It's not supposed to be preventative.
Being OK with male genital mutilation and not OK with female genital mutilation is bigotry, plain and simple. Male children do not have the ability (or the opportunity) to give consent when this mutilation is performed. Furthermore, a mutilation that people are desensitized to due to how common it may be regionally is still mutilation. For example, ask yourself how weird/strange you consider the various body modification techniques in Africa, South America, and Asia. Lip discs for enlarging, neck rings for elongating, foot binding for constricting, etc etc. The people in those cultures consider them perfectly normal, but if they're subjecting children to those techniques before they can give consent, it's abuse. If an adult (or mid-late teenager) decides they want to change their body permanently, they can do what they want.
