You're arguing something that I'm not arguing, and you're a retard.
Maybe I should have been more clear and said pay discrimination solely based on sex but I figured that you'd be able to piece that together considering the subject we're already on.
And if you think that's not what he's saying then all I can do is laugh at you.
Sorry to continue the derail, but this seems relevant.
The original blog post: 33 Reasons to be a Feminist
and the rebuttal:
That's what you get for having moderately low standards.
LOL I got banned from posting/responding on the Feminist Frequency facebook page for linking a rebuttal video. God.
What bothers me the most is that if she were truly unbiased and serious about this project, she could try to answer some interesting questions that might advance the discussion.
Are there correlations between the use of male/female protagonists and the financial success of video games? If so, have the trends changed over time? How have demographic trends affected the way games are marketed? With a budget to do full-time research, these questions and many more should at least be partially answerable.
Instead, I'm given a list of examples with little context and am expected to believe that 20 or 30 examples are a faithful representation of a period of 20+ years.
At this point I already know what to expect from her, and there's no indication that the tone or level of analysis of her videos will improve, but it's disappointing that she got paid to do basically the same thing she was doing before but at a slightly higher production value.
Didn't watch, does she ever praise a game for doing it (feminism) right?
Psychonauts, Dear Esther, and a few other indie games were briefly mentioned, but these are "the exceptions to the rule" according to her. Next video should talk more about games that get it right in her view.
She has shoutted out mirrors edge and beyond good and evil as well. Sort if. Really they just appear in a graphic in the corner of the screen at one point
I get the impression the next video is set to "include" some mention of games that do the same things towards men as women and show how rare that is, not to necessarily say anyone "gets it right".
And by '"include" some mention' I'm guessing it's going to be 20 seconds of mentioning a few games with overarching stories based on men in trouble instead of women.
But like, is Metroid at least a 'feminism-neutral' game? How about the original Contra? Without at least a compass of what is 'ok' in the feminist mind, she's never going to communicate her point well.
Actually, given that she thinks Peach is never a playable character in a main SMB game, she's probably not well versed enough to have an educated opinion.
at the end of the 2nd video shes states the 3rd video will focus entirely on games that subvert the damsel in distress notion + on games that offer a dude in distress
Exactly.
I keep seeing this image posted, people really DON'T know what is and is not okay.
Spoiler: show
That's fucking amazing.
