The Bechdel Test is a simple test which names the following three criteria: (1) it has to have at least two women in it, who (2) who talk to each other, about (3) something besides a man.

If someone, a feminist, comes along with a some sorta metric they'd be fine. The problem happens with "man fault/woman victim" diatribes that this sarkeesian type of feminist likes to do.

I don't know if it's been said yet but the Bechdel Test is retarded. You can't just simplify it to those three points. What about games where the ONLY character is a woman, and there is no one else? Clearly not a patriarchal game in concept, but it would sure as hell fail that test.

Can we stop simplifying shit down like this? Just judge each game individually. I'm pretty sure no one is going to look at Gears of War and go "Yep, that's a good example of women in games."

anyways the Bechdel test was originally devised for cinema but it can be applied to p much any artistic medium that has dialogue

I'm against metrics to begin with. All metrics do is allow people to be lazy. If you are going to label something as misogynistic, at least take the damn time to do the research and determine if it is, in fact, misogynistic or not. Don't use a damn three question test to pass or fail something.

However, if they start saying that all movies must pass this silly test or something is wrong with people/culture/the world, that's where I call bullshit. All forms of art are allowed to express different ideas and appeal to different people. A movie that appeals to men may not appeal to women - that's fine, they don't have to watch it. Just as men don't have to watch movies that don't appeal to them. Not liking some piece of entertainment != oppression.
