All the above quotes were actually directed at Jack Thompson, infamous game industry opponent and self professed ‘male’. So why in the hell was he recieving RAPE THREATS? Surely this is a women’s issue? Surely only women get this kind of abuse?

Thats a good blogpost, i can see some people only getting half way through, disagreeing with some of whats being said (something about cetain acronym some have taken offence to for somereason) and missing the best point near the end.
Anita, kotaku and their ilk are just too damn negative and sensationalist about everything they do more harm for their cause than good, assuming they actually care about their cause and not money, its alot easier and more profitable to critique than to inspire i guess.

I think it's obvious that this happens to both men and women, but it's definitely still a gender issue. The issue isn't that only women experience this kind of reaction and hate, it's that it happens to women much more often, and for less significant reasons. I've gotten messages like this for simply existing, without even needing to piss off a huge number of people. That doesn't happen to men nearly as often.

Of course i'm fine with it. Women and men aren't in equal footing. That's the whole point of feminism.

To put it in an example you can understand: that's like questioning why black people focus on black issues and not the issues of every other ethnicity in America. Black people focus on black people because they've historically been at a disadvantage due to oppression and racism. Not to mention it would be hilarious to expect black people to work to fix every issue that plagues every other ethnicity in america, and not expect every ethnicity to handle its own issues.

If men don't care either way, that's fine, but maybe they should stop bitching about women actually taking care of their own shit.
