Man its hard out here for straight white man.
Man its hard out here for straight white man.
I was just a shitty person then, that's all there is to it. I have not, and would never say such things again since shortly after then. I was a stupid kid. I've grown up a bit since then. If you want to find faults in me, then i guess it shouldn't be too hard to find current ones. I guess it'd be more effective than bringing up stuff from the past that i already realize was terrible.
Just quoting this again, because this is some crazy fucking shit. Isn't that what MRAs do? And i'm pretty sure they get called misogynists and bigots and shit for it.. so, wut? I don't agree with some of the more extreme aspects of it (particularly the lolconservative portions), but you can't say shit like that then shit on them for doing exactly what you prescribed.
I would expect people pushing for equality to band together across racial, socioeconomic (least likely I guess..) and gender lines to address all issues, regardless of their frequency and scope, at once.
The point is, that's why a lot of people don't report it.
I'm happy you're a better person now, but that doesn't mean everybody is. And ignoring the fact that people are abused or anything else because they won't report it (to avoid being ridiculed and laughed at) is silly.
You're definitely right, but it is hard to get people to care about a problem they don't know exists, and there is not much evidence of it. Men feeling ashamed or embarrassed about this kind of thing though is a much broader issue that should be addressed separately. And i do think that is a very important issue, and i do talk about it sometimes, and call people out on it when i see them shaming men for not being strong, or having emotions. It is really bad, and frequently prevents men from getting help when they need it, including in this case.
The difference is though, this is an explicit alliance being made between different groups of people who are often attacked by the same group of people (religious right dickfucks). There is no alliance between mras and feminists, because the former mostly focuses on attacking feminism. Meanwhile, real men's rights activist focus on issues such as parental leave for fathers, equal weight in courts when it comes to who should have child custody, and the harm that traditional male gender norms can have on men's health. Then we have internet mras who just like to bitch about feminists.
No.
Like the previous post i made, there are two very very different kind of MRAS. One, usually found on the internet, seems to believe the cause of all their problems are women and feminism. The other form of men's activists (who don't like the label mra because of the stigma associated to it thanks the former group) actually does something for men rather than complain about women all day.
Pour one out for the true scotsmen; ;
Also, the things you said here aren't even mutually exclusive. A lot of these "internet MRAs" are the exact same people who focus on issues such as parental leave for fathers and so on.
Sometimes I wonder if there's a sane bone left in that body of yours, Kuya!
I feel like when men complain about harassment it's mostly ALWAYS brushed off and they're laughed at or people sweep it under the rug. I'll try finding them when I get home but there's been articles on kotaku about males being harrassed and bullied via internet trolls and the articles almost always end with "the threats don't seem serious, so no need to worry guys. move along" yet when it's a woman who gets threatened its: "OMG! This poor dainty little flower of a woman got called a slut online. Everyone to her rescue! donate money! protect her at all COSTS!"
